It's an in-joke, between me and Phil. He said he was going to use livejournal to discover my deepest secrets, or just 'mum was so unfair today!'. So I posted that.
I thought it was another one of those incredibly vague posts that some people make which mean nothing to anyone else and cause one to wonder why the user posted it in the first place if the intention was to not enlighten any of us to the actual situation.
in-jokes however make sense to a specific person, so I guess they're acceptable.
Where you say "apartment", we say "flat". We sometimes say "jacket potato" instead of "baked potato", the two are interchangeable. Unless your Scottish... there, potatoes are known as "ta'ies". Then there's "trousers". I'm sure you guys use the word trousers sometimes. But to us, "pants" mean underpants, so you always say trousers. Ooo, and you mustn't forget the word "loo".
Ah yes, thank you for the refresher. "jacket potato" was interesting.
The only people that say trousers around here are grand"mum"s and those who throw it in for a cheap giggle.
New question. I think the show "Coupling" is funny, but do smart people there hate it like smart people here hate "Friends"? And do you think "Friends" is funny but hate "Coupling"?
