I've read the 'year of our war' and enjoyed it, though the authour is a bloody over achiever! young, successful and with a book out and only 26 i think. Not that i'm bitter:)

Neal Stephenson: I read snow crash and he struck me as a poor man's michael marshall smith

Murakami: lots of people reccomend so i shall strat there i think.

Jeff Noon: i'll read 'vert' is it? if only to get a couple of people off my back but I read a review of 'salt' that was so negative it did put me off him.

Early Jeff Noon. Orson Scott Card's "Ender" Series if you'e not too cynical for it - was one fo the few times I found sci-fi genuinely moving, but it might be OTT for you. If you haven;t read the "Dune" prequels, they are all good, worlds to get lost in.
Oh, and, even though it's not sci-fi, check out 'Memoirs of a Gnostic Dwarf'. I think you'd like it.

How dare you reccomend the "dune" Prequals to me! you monster.

I will have nothing that is the work of kevin j "superweapon" anderson in my fucking house. Mr "my jedi's bigger than your jedi" anderson is responsible for the 2nd greatest rape of my childhood of all time! fuckin star wars novels my arse.

The man for whom the death star was not a good enough death machine. he made up the fucking sun crusher! a tiny indistructable fighter that blew up stars! and then he built a three 'book' series out of it!

Kevin "TALENTLESS HACK" anderson takes other peoples work and then shits in it's heart. raping perfectly valid universes for his own personal ammusement and walet stuffing. He sits at home and masturbates into the money people give him for raping dead authors and childhood memories, i fucking promise younote 1: I've been wanting to get that off my chest since i was 15 and had the misfortune to read his work during that whole star wars revival thing that kicked off lucas doing the physicaly impossible, and buggering himself up ( ... )

He's not been involved in all prequels, and Brian Herbert is a fine sci-fi writer in his own right. Swallow your hurt and read one, they are good.

hummm, I'm sorry, i just have such a low opinion of anderson as a writer. it's not just the way he works it's the fact that he can't turn out anything worth the dead trees, and you know how little of a shit i give about dead things.

I can recommend David Eddings, The Ellenium series of books (starting with The Diamond Throne) Quite a good read as I recall, but then I read slower than most people, cuz I'm a bit of a retard :)

You don't like anon...I don't like IP capture! Life's a bitch...and then you die I guess.
