The stopwatch is lying on the desk, near the corner... - Jack/Ianto

Jan 22, 2007 19:00

The stopwatch is lying on the desk, near the corner, close enough for him to see it, not close enough to make it obvious that he's watching every second being counted down.

"Ianto, aren't you coming with us?" He looks up at Gwen, standing in front of his desk, and shakes his head.

"Still have a few more things to do before I go."

"Oh. Ok. Call us when you're done and you can come join us." He nods, knowing he won't phone. Far more important things to do than watch the confusing little love triangle that is Gwen, Owen and Tosh, watch someone who's had a few too many get up under flashing blue-and-purple lights and murder a song that can hardly be recognised, stare into the bottom of a glass a thinking about Jack...

Gwen nods down at the pile of papers and pens and notes and lists that make up Ianto's desk.

"You've set off that stopwatch." She reaches her hand down to pick it up and stop it. He sits and watches as the hand gets closer, before calmly saying,

"No. It's ok. Timing Jack on how long he can go without needing something to drink." He smiles up at her and she laughs, turns and walks away, out the door with one last wave goodbye.

He looks down at it, and then in the direction of Jack's office.

Two minutes left.
