Today is Girls Day. In Japan, a country I had the pleasure to live in for some time back home, Girls Day is a day we pray for the well being and future success of the young girls in our lives.
Girl's Day was inspired by a Japanese ritual named hina-nagashi, or doll floating. It was believed that dolls could hold evil spirits and curses, and so parents would send them down a river while praying for their children.
In Gensokyo, one of these dolls has gained sentience and has become a minor kami. She spends her time gathering curses.
