Name: Gilbert Nightray

Personality:
Gilbert is someone who is very loyal and very dedicated to the one closest to him and believes in the fact that the servant needs to be able to protect his or her master and if he can’t do that he tends to get slightly upset about it. When it comes to anyone but his master, he can be quite cold and quiet, but he can also be kind and gentle to the people he doesn’t know as well. When it comes to girls, Gilbert isn't one to spot that they like him, he's pretty much clueless when it comes to things of the sort.
Drinking any sort of alcohol, even just one glass could be all to make him revert back to his old personality that is an insecure cry-baby and at some point can get very confused as to how to say certain words as well, but usually first he becomes an angry drunks. Basically Gilbert is one who can't hold his drink very well and can get easily drunk.
Gilbert is one to idolize people for skills that usually he doesn’t have, or how quickly that person can do something. He can even idolise someone because of what they did for him. He can learn new tricks so he can learn things easy, but compared to his brother he takes a little longer to be able to perfect it. This is something that Gilbert tends to not like about himself.
He is one that is determined to do what it takes to be able to help his master, or that can be used to help him in one way or another, as he believes that a servant much at all costs protect the master and failure is not an option for him. He is also someone who has a hard time kicking a bad habit, even though he knows of the bad side to something, but this was only because of his idol smoking in the first place that he finds it hard to be able to quit smoking himself.
Gilbert is a good cook and can cook pretty well for himself. He also has a big fear of cats, which he has feared since he was a lot younger for reasons that are unknown for the meantime.
Background:
When they were young Gilbert and his brother were abandoned. The reason was because of Vincent and his red eye that where they came from meant misfortune and bad luck. They lived on the streets, Gilbert mainly taking the lead and helping them to survive, all the while when people saw them they would usually attack, leaving Gilbert to defend for both himself and his younger brother.
It wasn’t until later, when they were taken in by someone that they found someone who liked the eye, instead of do what everyone else did and attacked them because of it. They were soon set to a job of being servants and helping the man who had saved them from the streets, Gilbert himself didn’t mind being something of a servant if it meant thinking the one who had saved them. It wasn’t until he was at the age of nine that anything out of the ordinary happened. Gilbert had been chosen to be a sacrifice for a wizard’s ceremony.
While the ceremony was going on unknowing to him his master tried to stop it, but in the end Gilbert got the bad end of the stick and ended up getting hurt. He blacked out and when he next woke up, he couldn’t remember anything. How he got there, where he was, nothing except that his name was Gilbert. Someone was outside at the time and found him, bringing him into the estate where he was eventually made a servant once again by a new master. He even had to sign a contract as proof that he was working for him.
Gilbert stuck by this new master and even though his new master was mean to him as the young boy was growing up and the boy liked to tease and basically torture him by childish means of using cats and the like they still ended up being close friends. It wasn’t until the young masters 5th birthday, when Gilbert had been taken over by a summoning, who controlled him to hurt his young master. He managed to snap out of it and while trying to get the hooded people to stop what they were doing, he saw a face underneath the hood of the young master’s father.
When his master tried to actually fight back, he stepped in front only to once again get hurt and was soon out cold for the rest of it. When he did wake up his master had vanished and had been kidnapped by the group that had come and he blamed himself for not being able to protect the master. He soon left that household and ended up being found by another family known as the Nightray family. He was taken in and adopted as one of their own and soon saw his brother, although he didn’t recognise him at first since he didn’t remember his past before his master who had gone missing.
After being adopted into the Nightray household, he trained himself for the past ten years to become a better servant than he was previously, being more skilled in weapon training and summoning magic even gaining a summoning of his own that had belonged within the Nightray family Raven. The reason for him taking the job at Hogwarts is because he was told that it might hold some answers to questions he has.
He'll also be going under the alias Raven, instead of his name because the Nightray family have been known to have ties to necromancers and their background isn't one of the best as it also has so much blood on their hands and he's not one to have that known right now.

Why you think they belong in this house?
Well canon wise he was brave enough to step in front of a sword and get hit with it. This shows he at least brave, even when he doesn’t show it so much. He’s also someone who is strong willed because of his past he was the one who had to help him and his brother survive when their parents abandoned them.
Staff Position: Head Chocobo Chef
Why you think they fit this position?
Well he's a pretty good chef and part of his job as a servant is to cook for his master, so he's had practice in that area. Plus I just can't see him as a professor or I would have gone for the Home Economics slot.
If Professor would you want them to be Head of Phoenix House?
Funny thought that would be, I don't think Gilbert is one for a higher position unless his family told him to, even then he wouldn't listen.

Gilbert sighed as he tied his hair up to start another day in the kitchen. He went and grabbed his apron that he wore for this job as he looked over at the Moogles who already seemed hard at work, putting the apron on as he did and wondering at how much work those little guys actually do throughout the day at this rather large school, but right now he needed to start cooking himself.
Standing at the work top he decided to make something simple to begin with and make his way from there since this was a school and there was a lot of people, if he did something too complicated it would take to long. Gathering the things he needed Gilbert set about to start with the cooking that he needed to be doing as he only had a good couple of hours before most likely people were up.
He soon heard a noise as he turned his head looking over and asking, "What was that?" He couldn't see anything wrong, until he moved from his spot and spotted a Moogle had dropped something and a cat standing there. At the sight of the cat Gilbert nearly jumped back a couple of feet, his face looked like he was in fear. That was before he was, he had a phobia of cats that never went away. "Get the cat out!" He had ordered one of the Moogle to do as he had slowly moved away from the cat, but the cat was following him, causing him to panic even more to the point he ran out of the room, cat following suit.
This was going to be a long day for Gilbert if that cat had anything to say about it.

Why do you want to bring this into the game? /How is it important to your character?
Well as part of his background Gilbert trained for years to be able to get his hands of this summoning to help his master out or at least to find him anyway. It's an important part of him and who he has become from that little boy he was before.
What does it do? / How does it work?
Raven come with three separate abilities, which include:
Intimidation: Raven is able to become one with the darkness and only show it's one yellow eye, it can then use create copies of this eye to intimidate the person it is targeting.
Teleportation: Like apparate ability in the wizarding world, but puts a bigger strain on the user and on an bigger distance and even world canon wise.
Sealing Powers: This ability is used to be able to seal ones powers if they overbear a user.
How will this be translated to Hogwarts?
Basically the ability will stay the same or similar, except the teleport thing will be in his wand, but he hasn't perfected that, but at a lower level or less powerful.
How will you be limiting this power?
Gilbert would not be using this power so much, unless in an emergency like if someone needs protection, but only then it would be limited a lot since he got the summoning, but still hasn't perfected how to use it.
Do other characters know about this power?
If we ever get any Nightray's then they would know, but otherwise no one within Hogwarts knows.
