Oh, Loz. I've been watching this one on the tumblr. Part of me is cheering wildly. part of me is facepalming because don't exchange the trolls who punctuate dialogue incorrectly.
I don't actually ship Sam/Gene, but your post made me wish I did. =)
I'm pretty sad it's become clear it's a troll, to be honest. It was amusing when it was simply a moron.
Shipping Sam/Gene is fun, but not mandatory. I've always adored them as friends first and foremost. I just really don't like being told what to do, clearly.
:D Yeah. I already knew I could ramble on for hours about LoM. I never quite get over fandom loves, and I still consider myself in the fandom, albeit in a limited capacity these days. I lurk.
Wait, she's a troll? *blinks* That's even more bizarre than her just being belligerently clueless. Kind of an odd choice of dungeon to wander into.
Still, all the applause for you and all your eloquent smackdowns. I was rather delighted to see your responses on my dashboard this afternoon. And I say this as someone who has always been somewhat wobbly on the subject of the Good Ship Sam/Gene.
There's an element of trollery at play, but I don't know if I'd say they're an outright troll.
About 6 years ago I was all-gen-all-the-time, and I still sometimes sniffle to myself and wail "gen! my beloved gen!" I'm also a multi-shipper and have the capacity to ship all the things. I don't think a relationship has to be sexualised for it to be meaningful. But to act like viewing things in a different light is an affront really frustrates me, because it's so constricting.
