I've been trying to think of other possible remixes they could pull on the theme song. Since they've got four now, I figure they should keep going until they get enough to put on a CD and sell to the masses. One that occurred to me after seeing the Psych-out is showtunes. As a preface to a musical episode. Which I agree must happen.
The only plot (what plot? musical episodes need no plot) I can think of is someone hiding a bomb on the premises of the Psych office and/or SBPD and threatening to blow them sky-high if they don't sing all their conversations for X amount of time. I can't really find a motivation in that, though

I find Gus SO CREEPY when he hits on people. Like, SERIOUSLY. I do not know how a fine, fine man like Dulé manages to come across as an A-class creepster, but he does, with panache!
I was thinking we could do the whole 'bumped my head, it was all a dream' thing. They've done unreliable narration before.
It's a shame, sometimes, how, despite being over the top, Psych is very obviously grounded in the 'real world'.
Good, I'm not the only one who thinks that. It's mostly the tone of voice that gets to me, but there's also these little facial tics that just. Eurgh.
Ooh, all-a-dream could be good. Shawn or Gus seem most likely, but I think I would absolutely die if it was Lassiter. Or Henry. And then the idea of a drug-of-a-different-name!unreliable narration episode hits. Dear god.
Psych's grounding in the real world gives us scenes we wouldn't get otherwise, though. Find me another show where the main characters cannot easily lift a table between the two of them. Or scream at the sight of a dead body (and come across such bodies regularly). And a number of awkward!funny scenes happen because of comments that would be glossed over in other shows.
It's everything. From crazy-eyes, to that nose-flick thing, to the smile that is sometimes cute and sometimes OHMYGODHEWANTSTOEATMYBRAINS. Tone of voice, sucking-up demeanour. This is why I don't think Gus is hot, even though Dulé clearly is.
LASSITER. Because it would all be jazz! And he may even get a little action! (Although Lassiter strikes me as the kind of person whose dreams would end badly for him.)
Oh man, that and the 'Lassiter has to pretend to be Shawn because someone wants to assassinate him, but only know how he acts not how he looks' episode are the imaginary episodes I would kill to see.
Tim would knock "Lassiter as Shawn" so far out of the ballpark it would hit THE MOON. And we know Lassiter's an all or nothing character. He would be SO GOOD and Shawn would be a) offended, b) amused, c) confused as to why Lassiter isn't like this always and d) turned on, all in the space of three minutes.
And Gus would grow to appreciate Lassiter just a little bit! Or, in fact, a lot, when Lassiter buys the peanuts and ice creams and actually shares them.
Obvious joke was made more amusing for me by the fact that was one of the few TV shows that was ALWAYS ON when I was at my mom's. She loved it to death. So a wincing childhood memory! :P
I am sure I'm not the only one who always kind of assumed Gus' only friend was Shawn.Actually, I'd kind of assumed that Shawn's only friend was Gus more than the other way around. And that if indeed Gus' only friend was Shawn, it was because other potential-friends couldn't get past Shawn's obnoxious exterior to the soft, gushy (which I almost wrote as "gusy," heh) interior that tempers it. Well, when he's well-written. XD

You know what? As soon as I saw how Roday was playing it, I stopped worrying about how offensive he would be. Which is why the "I wish I'd known you when you used to be black" comment actually managed to shock me.

That's kind of exactly what I meant. I didn't think it was an inherently Gus' fault kind of thing, more of a wilfully Gus' fault and doesn't have to be kind of thing --- there is no reason in the world Gus couldn't have a thousand and one friends. He's good with people, on a surface level. The only reason is Shawn. Shawn is that best friend who takes up every inch and second of Gus' day. He pushes all other potential friends to the outskirts. You saw how jealous and protective he got over Jason. He's like that ALL THE TIME. And Gus lets it happen, almost now needs it to happenUntil

Ah. you obviously picked up on it much quicker than me, then. XD
It might be interesting (for you) to write something exploring the idea of Gus without Shawn. *coughs* I mean, obviously it'd be interesting for more than just you to read, but I do think that if you're interested at all, you should write it. :)
This is one of my favourite episodes for a long long time! I remember back when Boyz II Men were cool!!! The sense of ellation on Shawn's face as he heard Gus sing was priceless!!!

During the first seasons I was all about the Shawn/Lassiter interaction, but now Gus is sneakily gearing up to be my favorite character.
Oh, and I adored Juliet's no nonsense attitude towards Shawn.

I've always been all for both Shawn/Lassiter and Shawn/Gus (and sometimes, Shawn/Lassiter/Gus, because, verily, having it both ways is AWESOME.)
