Cultural Appropriation: Now with Extra Crunchiness

Feb 02, 2009 14:40

I had a bit of a shock yesterday. I was minding my own business, scanning groceries, waiting out the last hour of my shift. A customer came through my line with an organic cereal - I can't remember the specific brand. The back of the box was covered in little grinning Inca soldiers, hands clasped around their spears.

I paused and took a good, long look. )

I think the real question is... how does the cereal taste?

Well, it was blood-of-the-innocent flavored. Really no surprise there. : )

Blood of the innocent flavor? Sounds full of yum. Whatever happened to the pleading tears of the helpless flavor? That was totally my favorite.

Anyways, fantastic thought, falling back to "the victor writes history" tendency of our world. There are so many things we take at face value, without looking into new perspectives and what builds up to the events glamorized or demonized.

...I may not be making sense. Two and a half hours of math test melts brains. (Could probably be a new variety of cereal there).
