♥ Character Information
Name: Loz
Age: Appears early twenties, but only two
Personality: Loz is something of a paradox, odd considering that he's only a fraction of a person. Like his brothers, Kadaj and Yazoo, he carries with him a portion of Sephiroth's traits, the most obvious one being his strength. He is certainly more brawn than brain, uncomplicated at best and a little dim at worst. Loz may physically appear as the oldest, but his mindset is often very simple and childlike, though this works to advantage in the group of three when one assigns Loz to a specific task, since it is certain he will not stop until he's bulldozed his way to the goal. Brutality is countered only by his playful nature, which can get the better of him, as he will sometimes allow his opponent get a few lumps in to test their limits before showing them how its done. Of course to him, such encounters are seen merely as games, albeit ones he's certain he'll win.
He does not question why things are, accepting them at face value and working solely to the advantage of his brothers and, of courrse, JENOVA, whom the boys idolize as their precious "Kaa-san" or Mother. He is quite cocky and confident in his abilities and that of his brothers, and has never shown fear in the face of an obstacle as a result. He has a particularly strong bond with Yazoo, whom he often fights alongside with absolutely synchronized movements. While perhaps more physically capable, Loz willingly leaves Kadaj in charge, following his every order dutifully and without contradiction. He is strong, but stronger still is his devotion and loyalty to what he considers his family.
In fact, Loz's greatest vulnerability concerns "Kaa-san", apparently having also inherited Sephiroth's sensitivity on the subject. Perhaps it is his childlike simplicity once again at work, but Loz has never done well at restraining or hiding feelings. No matter what the emotion, he demonstrates exactly how he is feeling rather overtly. He is at times teased by his brothers for being something of a crybaby, despite his tough appearance, quick to sulk and sniffle when he is upset. However, poking fun at Loz if you are anyone other than his brothers is more likely to get your skull caved in than provoking tears, as anger wells as swiftly to the surface as sorrow.
Strengths: Loz pursues his goals single-mindedly, though he sees no harm in taking pleasure in his tasks, and there is little that pleases him more than fighting. While Kadaj is their leader and Yazoo their steadying hand, Loz is the passionate aggressor. He enjoys getting his hands dirty, maybe even having something constructive/destructive to do with himself. He certainly doesn't care much for sitting idle, though he will always follow the instructions of his brothers.
He is alarmingly quick for his size, moving so quickly he almost seems to teleport, and remarkably intuitive in battle. He can dodge most blows thrown at him and know where to move next in order to assist his brother, Yazoo, in an onslaught. He carries two weapons on his person: the Dual Hound, a pile bunker worn on his left arm with an electrical charge that can drive through stone and send shockwaves through the earth, and Velvet Nightmare, a gunblade identical to that Yazoo wields as his main weapon. Additionally, everything surrounding him on the battlefield can potentially become a weapon for him to use. He is able to shatter trees at the Forgotten Capital, fling Rude through the air with ease, stop the runaway Fenrir in its tracks with one foot by simply bracing himself, and in his motorcycle chase with Cloud, digs his Dual Hound into the asphalt while riding, and flips his entire vehicle through the air towards Cloud.
Loz is also quite resilient, able to take a thorough beating, stand up, brush himself off, and then turn the tables on his opponent in a matter of seconds.
Weaknesses: "Not the sharpest tool in the shed" sums up the biggest issue with Loz. He doesn't do well thinking on his own, still very much a child in mentality, and has to rely on his brothers for instruction. Even if that willingness to follow means walking out into the purifying rain of Aerith's Great Gospel to die, he will not stray, for obviously without his family life has no real meaning for him. His sensitivity can also be seen as a weakness, in his lack of control, though it can be as dangerous to those around him as it can be detrimental to himself. He will also at times indulge his opponent too readily and allow them to take shots they really shouldn't be able to, considering his fighting prowess, out of a simple desire to see what they are capable of before being crushed.
History: Formed in the Lifestream when Sephiroth's soul refused to diffuse, Loz emerged alongside his brothers out of the desire by the swordsman to return to this world. Knowing no other purpose or drive, they set forth to find the remains of their "Mother" within the Northern Crater. There, they encountered the Turks, who under orders from Shinra were also searching for what was left of JENOVA. Though they escaped with the small portion of her remaining cells, the three brothers were able to capture Tseng and Elena, and held them for quite some time. Torture ensued, before they took to the Forgotten City as their new home base. Their hostages vanished, presumably due to interference from Vincent Valentine, but now their sights were set on finding JENOVA.
Traveling towards Midgar, Loz and his brothers encountered Cloud just outside Edge and proceeded to attack him, demanding to know the whereabouts of their "Mother". Though outmatching him with the help of their summons, Shadow Creepers formed from tainted Lifestream much as the rest of them were, Loz and Yazoo were called off the attack by Kadaj. They then split up. Kadaj went in search of Rufus Shinra for answers, while Loz was sent to search the old rundown church in Midgar, to ascertain if Cloud did indeed still have some portion of JENOVA in his possession. What he found instead were Tifa and Marlene. Loz then demanded that Tifa "play" with him, enticing her into a fight she initially seemed to win. However, it seemed Loz was mostly unharmed by even her most ferocious of attacks, and after a call from his brother to "bring the girl" and hurry, he swiftly knocked Tifa unconscious. He might have finished the job and killed her as well, had Marlene not distracted him by bonking him in the back of the head with materia. Unknowingly, she had drawn his attention to the large stash Yuffie had left in Cloud's care. Noting that this probably took precedence over finishing his game, Loz retreated, leaving Tifa alive, and brought both Marlene and the chest full of materia back to their hideout at the Forgotten City. He, along with Yazoo, then bore witness to Kadaj's possession of the children who were infected with Geostigma.
Cloud soon arrived in search of the children, and a battle ensued. Fighting in sync with Yazoo, keeping Cloud at bay was a non-issue, and they might have been able to finish him off if Vincent had not arrived to whisk him away. The three brothers then returned to the city of Edge, following the lead of the Geostigma-infected children, using them as bloodhounds to track down the remains of JENOVA. While Kadaj met with Rufus once again, Loz and Yazoo worked together and attempted to destroy a momument to the fall of Meteor, believing the gathered children are indicating that is where JENOVA is located. They were stopped by Reno and Rude of the Turks. Loz squared off against Rude, who only managed to get one good punch in during the entirety of the fight.
When Kadaj finally secured the remains of JENOVA, he took off, with Loz and Yazoo on his heels, and Cloud followed. A motorcycle chase ensued, and Yazoo and Loz worked together to keep Cloud from catching up to their brother. At the end of the chase, the Turks arrived ahead of their path via helicopter. Cloud, having gained a lead, drove by, and Loz and Yazoo were subsequently caught in the explosion of the bombs Rude and Reno brought with them. The explosion was relatively weak, however flashy, and did not kill them. They finally catch up to Cloud after he has defeated Sephiroth within Kadaj's body, and Kadaj himself had rejoined the Lifestream. Determined to follow their brother and take Cloud with them, Loz and Yazoo both loaded up on materia, resulting in one final Kamikaze attack as they disintegrated in the healing rain of Aerith's Great Gospel, destroying them both utterly.
♠ Roleplaying Samples
First person:
I hate caves. They feel so small, even the ones that aren't, and it's dark and hard to breathe. It smells like mako, too, though I don't know why, and Yazoo says he can't smell anything and to stop complaining. So I did.
But I still hate caves.
Kadaj said we'll be moving soon, and that's good. He says our base is going to be a day's walk away, at least, which means we'll need a way to move the Turks. I could carry them if the little one would just stop wiggling so much. She's not really that much fun anymore, even if she does get that funny look on her face every time we get near her.
At least I think she does. This cave gets really dark sometimes.
...I think I'm going to go make sure that Kadaj knows that our next base shouldn't be a cave.
Third person:
The little girl was quiet the entire way back to the Forgotten City. Loz didn't know much of children, but her silence seemed odd, somehow striking to him. The other girls he'd encountered so far had been much more vocal in their fears, and they had been quite a bit older than this one. She just clung tightly to him, her fear of falling from the motorcycle seemingly outweighing that of where they were going, or what plans they might have for her.
Most humans were weak things, and he was certain if he played with this one, she would break very easily. She was so small, almost weightless when he picked her up to put her on the bike, but something about her steadfastness quietly piqued his curiosity. Was she so certain that he would not harm her, or that Nii-san would come for her? He was fairly certain that was why Kadaj had instructed him to bring her back. What other reason could there be? She didn't have Geostigma like the others.
It seemed fair enough to him. They had stolen Mother. Now they would know what it felt like to have something precious taken from them. He could only imagine what cruelties she had endured at their hands...
His focus was drawn back to the road they were speeding along, shaking his head abruptly and clearing his mind of these thoughts. He could feel his eyes tingling, but that was easily discounted as just the wind. They were the monsters, not them. Even the littlest of their kind, huddled against him as they tore across the landscape, was not going to escape their eventual revenge against the Planet. Still, he did not think he'd hurt this one as badly. Maybe they could keep her, train her, have HER tell Nii-san the error of his ways. Maybe Kadaj had already thought of that too.
Gunning the engine, they took up an even faster pace. He'd know what had to be done, soon enough.
