Thursday
It was a quick drive down from London town to Bournemouth on Thursday. Lots of excitement in my belly and big grins on our faces. Having waited for what seemed like forever to get away for a long weekend and escape the dramas of overtime and exes we filled our two hour drive with fast paced talk, singing and car dancing (^_^)
Finding our way around once we got off the motorway was surprisingly easy. Well I've never been to Bournemouth so I was anticipating getting lost and or trying to find places I didn't know existed but our hotel appeared on the corner just as I was starting to panic in my mind! Yes, stupid to panic because it's not like we were on another planet, but I forgot the address for the hotel on my desk at work a few hours previously and I was considering ringing 118 to get the directions / address haha!
Shock! Horror! The lifts in that place were only big enough to fit two people, and we had to sit our bags on top of each other so we could both fit in there! Standing in this tin box as it creaked and moaned up through the innards of the hotel, fear crept up inside me because I genuinely thought we could plunge to our deaths any second. Obviously not, but you can't help feeling like that when you're stood in a lift first built and still decorated from the 50's!
OMG. Our room reminded me of an old people's home. Original decor, mismatched furniture and oh god the bed! I flopped on the bed (if you can even call it a bed that is) and the most godawful sound errupted from it's springs! "Great, now the whole hotel's going to hear us at it in the middle of the night babe!" Ditto just laughed it off, and told me to stop apologising for "getting a shitty room". I felt so bad, how could I not have been able to find out what the hotel was really like before we came?! Haha!
We parked the car at the sister hotel down the road from where we were staying and had a wonder around. We were starving by ten thirty so we went on a food hunt! Having walked around for about 45 minutes, all down the wrong A roads and across an Asda forcourt where the McDonalds had just closed, we turned on out heels and walked back the other way. Success! We came across an open KFC after a very unsuccessful encounter with closed restaurants, queues and queues of clubbers, overactive drunk teens and patrolling police troops. Neer has food been more satisfying - yummy!
To walk off the calories, we walked through town, avoiding altercations with even more clubbers and drunk teens. The closer to the sea we got, the stronger the salty smell. I always get that young of age, excited feeling in my stomach. I start grinning uncontrolably and act really silly! It was about midnight when we got to the water's edge. Ditto took my hand and we stood with the chilly breeze on our faces, looking out towards the dark horizon. It was incredibly romantic stood there by ourselves hand in hand, pressed up against each other. I've not been for a midnight walk beside the beach before. It was one of the sweetest things ever.
Sleep time was very much appreciated. Nice cuddles in front of the teevee and resting my head on Ditto's chest was pure bliss!
