When telephone lines finally become completely obsolete, will we still call them telephone poles?
"Power poles" or "cable poles" just don't seem like they would catch on.

I've opted for the all-encompassing "Utility Pole" on occasion, maybe I can get that to catch on. I'd like to suggest a more interesting name, but everything I come up with somehow sounds perverted.

I still have a land line, though it's seldom used. Currently I have a bare bones plan on it and it costs me $25/month. That's $15 for the plan and $10 in fees. It's almost like they WANT me to cancel it.

Yeah, I think a lot of people are getting phone through their internet/cable provider now. Unfortunately the "bundle" deals make the phone portion free in comparison to the cost of buying internet + cable only, but since most people don't want it and don't plan to even use it, I think it's just a way of charging you full price for the cable + internet while making you feel like you're getting a good deal.
