The Patchwork Man [#projectPrague]

Back in October last year, a friend of mine was visiting Prague on a work trip. We met for a few beers. Literally three I think.

Unfortunately, on my way to the Metro after walking back to his hotel with him, I tripped and fell going into the station. He was very helpful and paid for a taxi home. However, as it crossed some of Prague's ubiquitous ( Read more... )

Oh dear. As you can see, I don't visit LJ that much any more.

Thank you!

B. mentioned that she had seen you at Parcon, but not that you were falling to pieces.

Best wishes with getting yourself together again - and preferably with as little pain and/or other problems as possible.

Oh, yes, indeed -- I was fairly newly out of hospital and not in a good state. I was only there for the afternoon/early evening. Even so, I missed a connection on my train ride home and had to take an *extremely* expensive taxi ride. :-(

Thank you for the kind wishes!

Dude, that sounds horrific - I hope you get better very soon!

It has been a bumpy ride. I think a component in the original injury were my quite new bifocal glasses. I can't really see the ground or my feet clearly any more when wearing them, and must incline my head very acutely to see where I'm walking through the top parts of the lenses. This took some getting used to.

I am vaguely considering getting the lenses of my eyes replaced. I'm in a high-risk group for glaucoma and other nastiness, but also a different one for complications of corneal laser surgery...

So yet more bits might get replaced. :-/

Hmm. As long as there is a continuation of service...

OTOH, how would I know if there wasn't? I could be programmed not to...

Ouch. I remember you talking about the bike injuries, though I hadn't somehow realised they were so bad. Now this. Best wishes for as full a recovery as possible!

Oh yes. I am an NHS bionic man. "We can rebuild him -- worse, weaker, slower than he was before!"

But, you know, very glad to have been rebuilt at all. I like having 4 working limbs. It's a good number.

Sadly, the damage, or perhaps more to the point, the repairs are now starting to wear out, a quarter of a century later...
