If you haven't seen it yet, here's the latest trailer for the new Rurouni Kenshin live action movie due out in August.  I'm trying really hard not to get my hopes up too high, but omg looks so good.

i am totally wigged out by this, i am hoping that they're going to release it in a couple/few parts because it seems to have the whole manga story in it and i don't want it to be rushed. when i saw it i watched it over and over and then i tried to pause it in every frame (looking for a good screen shot to draw).

i would love to be in japan for the premier but that's not going to happen, i just want it to be released in the U.S. (even a limited release in selected theaters like they did with 'spirited away' would be wonderful -- wanna see it on the big screen!)

I have heard that there are plans for a limited international release. (The Warner Bros. logo at the opening of the trailer gives me some hope.) I don't think that it's going to follow ALL of the manga. The only villains I've seen in the trailers and on the posters are Kanryuu and Jine, but there is definitely obvious back story included in this film. Dare we hope that if this is successful we will have a sequel (or two!) with Shishio and Enishi? OK, perhaps I'm getting just a LITTLE ahead of myself XD.

This seems so very promising O_O and now we have some proof of there being a movie :D.
I hope they have subtitles for the movie XD when it comes out or i'm going to be confused haha lol.

By the way what do you think of the remake manga? Rurouni Kenshin Kinema? And the soon to be new anime (if there ever is one)? I'm so hesitant on it DX, i loved the original so much.

Oh the movie is definitely a reality; releasing in Japan at the end of August. I'm very hopeful that with Warner Bros being the distributor that we'll see a subbed version here in the States some time this fall.

The anime, at least the first part, I believe has already been released. I haven't watched it yet with the subs because I personally don't really care about the premise of the Kyoto Arc from Misao's POV. I've read the first two released chapters of the new manga and I have to say, I'm not a fan. Things are just a little TOO different and like you, I loved the original. Things are rushed and how the characters are being introduced to each other is really bothering me. I'd say read it and make your own opinion. I'll probably continue to read it, just because it's RK, but for now, the original is still better IMO.
