I travel SO rarely that I hardly feel qualified to reply... but if you count the little day trips and trips to the hospital or whatever with family members I need to keep company, then I have to say I do take TOO MUCH stuff with me usually! I'm OCD driven on certain things and that's one of them. I'm usually too distracted to actually use anything I take, but I always feel the need to be prepared. I use a big tote and always take a hard sided document case filled with plain white cardstock for drawings and sketches along with at least four kinds of pencils and a fine tipped black marker. Okay a few of those too just in case one is too dry. LOL!!! I take a case full of colored pencils and a stack of prints to color. Usually my own prints, but if I feel like I'm going to be too distracted for that, I'll take rubber stamped postcards to just "color like a kid" to divert my mind. I also always include a mini carving kit, a small, thin terry towel as a "crumb catcher" and a few large erasers "just in case". Sometimes if my "whim ( ... )

i must tell you that i wish i could take credit for the fishies, but alas, someone else designed those. it was looking at them that made me wonder about what i could carve for me.

thank you for sharing the supplies that you take along with you. i always tend to take way too many, but hate the idea of being caught without something i want.

I just recently delved into the whole stamp-carving thing. It is surprisingly relaxing. Because I can't draw, I like to focus on carving graphic and geometric images (circles, squares, tiling patterns). It is easy for me, produces great results, and you wind up with a very versatile stamp.

Usually I just take my cameras when I travel anywhere. I've been thinking about taking paper and crayons to do some rubbings on future trips.

I want to carve stamps. I have all the materials but just haven't done it. I really like your fish! My daughter wants to do something with fish (she and her hubby both have degrees in fisheries and wildlife mgmt) for the baby's room when they move into the little house later this month. Maybe I should try my hand at fish. Your work is certainly inspiring!
