I've not seen the prog in question [don't have a TV because I refuse to pay the annual TV-tax]. Must confess though, I totally fail to comprehend why the BNP are described as "far right" ny the Beeb and the mainstram media.
The BNP's policies are if anything far-Left - they want to nationalise the banks/housing/a vast slew of business, they want to impose tarriffs against the free movement of goods people and services... that hardly counts as "far right" in my mind.
People call the BNP Fascist. Sure, they are - Fascist (as typified by Hitler/Mussolini/Stalin) is Authoritarian, control-from-the-centre, Statist. Remember that Hitler was a National Socialist.
That's hardly far-right in my worldview. Check out Political Compass who tend to agree with me.
I think the contentious thing where wide-eyed-angry-asian asked "WHERE DO I GO, HUH?!" is Nick didn't spell out the policy. AFAIK, the policy is "born here, stay, but if you're not white we'll pay you to leave" - Which gives the impression angry-asian is not exactly welcome, just tolerated.
It really did annoy me when Jack Straw pretended he wasn't a duck though. Plus the conservative woman wasn't exactly answering the point directly, even when complaining JS wasn't. Like you say, I really am losing faith. Nick is explicitly -not- squeeky clean or evasive. Hes quite happy to admit he was a holocaust denier. And in a backwards way, thats kinda reassuring. Oh sure, jews can pop out and bash me on the head, but if hes that willing to deviate from the norm, maybe he can actually change party-politics; Party decides stance on issues by committee- All party members vote the same way- Any rogue-voting members get axed at the next general election. Along with any chance of your letter/email/visit complaining about a stupid new law having any
