By all rights, Scotty probably shouldn't have been inviting Miss Kaylee over for a tour of the Enterprise. And he did feel a bit guilty about doing it; they were supposed to ask Jim if they could bring people over, but Jim... the community seemed to have let him go. He could ask Spock, maybe, but he figured he was a good enough judge of character ( Read more... )

Kaylee shouldn't have been vanishing from her own ship, either. Mal probably would throw a fit if she didn't explain where she was or why she was gone, but they were just traveling at the moment and there wasn't anything that could possibly happen that would need her back on deck. They weren't near reaver space and they weren't even running at full power. Serenity could cruise on her own for a while without her best friend.

When she was 'beamed' onto this Enterprise ship she hadn't expected it to feel like it did; which was nothing at all. In fact, by time she had time to think about how nervous she was about letting some other person in some other dimension do something to her person that she knew nothing about... she was already there ( ... )

Scotty gave Kaylee a moment to get her bearings; it was always a little tricky, getting used to the transporters, especially the first couple of times using them. He was glad he'd thought to bring along a spare uniform - while Kaylee's outfit would have been alright had the crew still been on shore leave, right now she'd stick out and the last thing he wanted to do was draw attention to her. "Alright, then?" he asked, stepping out from behind the glass partition that separated the landing platform from the control console. "I brought this," he added, reaching for the uniform, holding it up so she could see. "I'll step out a mo' t'let you get changed, aye?"

Kaylee looks around and before she sees Scotty step out from behind the partition, she manages another curse under her breath, but loud enough for someone to hear. "Shun-sheng duh gao-wahn..." she says, looking up at the lights above her. He asks if she's alright and she startles a bit and smiles. "Shi," she answers and realizes he might not catch that, "yeah, I'm fine."

She steps down from the transporter and walks towards him. She saw the uniform and what he was wearing. She glances down at her clothes and back up at him, "I like my clothes."

"Rules're rules, lass, an' I'm sorry, but if you want t'see the ship you've got t'wear the uniform," he told her. "Unless you want me gettin' in trouble for unauthorized personnel bein' aboard." As long as she had a uniform on and was with him, they shouldn't run into any trouble, but if anyone happened to notice her not in a uniform and if they called security... Granted, Jack didn't have to wear a Starfleet uniform when he was on board, but then again, Jack was something of a special case. "I'd hate to've brought you all this way just t'have t'send you right back again."
