He took one final look back at the plump, dark-skinned children that had followed them to the gate, before raising his hand in a farewell wave and slipping through the gate. The Inali were a primitive people, but friendly, more than willing to share whatever grains and produce they had to spare. Giving to a fault, John had to turn down several ( Read more... )

She notices the Darts a mere second before alarms start blaring in the control room - five of them, heading straight for the city, too small to show up on the long-range sensors. They'll be here within minutes, and the city's understaffed, between trips to the mainland, missions, and trips to Earth - she's all but undefended; five hive ships might not be much, but it could be enough.

The alarms have sounded, the people on duty know - but there are somethings she can do faster than them. John! Wake up! I need you in the Chair room, NOW!

Carson jerks awake when John does. Blue eyes met hazel when a soft voice sounded inside Carson's head.

Carson, ready the infirmary. the Wraith are attacking.

His eyes went wide as he realized the city was speaking to him. Rolling out of his side of the bed, he spoke to a vaguely snoring Rodney.

"Rodney! Wake up! The Wraith are attacking!"

Rodney, for all his laziness in the mornings, was out of bed and already half-dressed before Carson even finished speaking. Anything involving the Wraith was enough to get him motivated.

He grabbed his ear piece as he pulled on his shirt--well, he thought it was his, it might have been one of Radek's from the first year--and started speaking into it as soon as it touched his ear. "Jones, Barry, Feisu, I want a report ten minutes ago. Weapons up, shields up and someone meet me in the chair room with a pot of coffee!"

Tapping his comm off for a minute, he dragged John out of the room. "See you later Carson. Come on, Sheppard, we need you in that chair."

"One pot, Rodney. Come ta me if you need anything more than that. I'll be readying the infirmary.

Thank God Radek and Rachel are safe."
