I think this hits hard because we know that the way the world is that this is a possibility as much as they travel. I also think that they would sacrifice for each other as they have in the story. Though painful and emotional to read, I enjoyed your writing very much.

this is painfully beautiful. - the thought of them in such physical torment makes me cringe, especially about Jjong's injury. i thought it was him they were visiting at the cemetery and i was about to cry. just imagine my relief when i found out he is alive. ugh!

yes, this is a possibility - for a thousand different reasons. your story made me realize the risks they take each time they leave home. it's frightening. and I fervently pray it doesn't happen, to them or to anyone else.
