[She's actually been here for about an hour, listening to the voices over the journals and making her way toward the village center to avoid hypothermia out in the snow. Feel free to lead her somewhere warm. Her voice is calm, but someone who knows her well might detect an undercurrent of worry.]

This is Lieutenant Uhura speaking, of the U.S.S. ( Read more... )

... Again?

[ McCoy sounds unimpressed. ]

There's no way to contact the ship in this damn place, Uhura.

McCoy! I can't say I'm not glad to hear a familiar voice, but... where is the ship?

I'm fine, I was able to find the Welcome Center before hypothermia set in.

What do you mean, "until now"? How long have you been here?

Hello, Captain. I really hope Sulu and Chekhov aren't taking the Enterprise on a joy ride in our absence.

[ GROOOAAAAAN. ]

Don't remind me of my worst fears, Uhura. Welcome back to Luceti. What colors are your wings this time?

Is it just me or is it not good to be welcomed back to a place I don't remember ever being?

...I suppose you'll find out soon enough. They're black-and-white striped. What about yours?

Uhura?

[Buffy, of course, remembers the name from when the woman was briefly here before.]

And you are?

[A barely audible sound slips through the journals, a name that might be lost in the cacophony of sounds emanating from the communication system. And while certainly not unwelcomed in the least, her arrival is unexpected in every form.]

...Nyota.

Spock.

[Okay, she's glad to hear his voice. At least if they're in this mess, they're in it together, right? She thinks.]

I'm at the Welcome Center right now. There's a very large man with a very thick accent plying me with some very messy-looking sandwiches. No injuries to speak of, aside from the wings, which I take it we all have? And no hypothermia, although it seems like it might've been a goal of whomever dumped me here.

Thank you, Nyota. It would be wise to remain in your current location until I have retrieved you.

[That is one thing he has always appreciated about Uhura- her ability to anticipate the queries he might have.]

It is unfortunate, but the wings are an unavoidable component. You will find that external communication is not possible at this time but perhaps with your presence, that will change. [Pause.] Lieutenant Uhura. It would be advisable not to impart any critical information over the transmission network.

Understood. [They've all been given these journal things, it's obvious that whoever gives them out is monitoring the network. And you can bet she's already asking questions to assess the level of technology around here - to see if it might even be possible to establish some kind of outside communication system.]

I'm finding some warmer clothes before I go anywhere else, anyway.
