It felt good to be back, Paula thought as she sat at her desk, finally making headway on getting caught up. Leonard's back-log of paperwork wasn't as bad as he expected, as most people had taken advantage of the time off to stay off-ship. There were few records to code or review, and the reports that usually took up a day or so to complete were quickly done and sent to appropriate supervisors ( ... )

Sickbay was quiet. That was the first thing Paula noticed when she walked through the double doors. It stood to reason, she supposed, since most everyone had been off the ship over the past several days. She smiled and said hello to Dr. Xin in passing, making her way back to Leonard's office.

He looked exhausted. That was the first thing Paula noticed when she saw him sitting there. "Hey you," she said softly, leaning against the open door frame.

Looking up, he saw her outline in the frame of his door and smiled. Always one of his favorite people. "Hello sweetheart," he said, standing to greet her with a hug. "How are you feeling?" he asked, realizing he'd been neglecting her treatment since his own injury and subsequent news.

"I'm sorry I didn't get back in touch with you."

Paula smiled back as she returned that hug, lingering just a little. She had been worried about him ever since the accident. "Never better," she assured him. "I think I might be caught up on my work at last. I guess you've been busy doing the same?"

She looked up at him as they separated. "I was a little worried," she admitted. "But I guess you had plenty going on, with your treatment and all."
