Ok, I desperately need help. I'm trying so hard to think of this one TV miniseries. It's based on Alice in Wonderland only much darker. I feel it came out around '97, but I could be off by a few years in either direction. Are you thinking about the video game American McGee's Alice? That was pretty twisted.

I'd say yes, except that I've never played or seen anyone play Alice. So I find that quite unlikely. I just can't figure what I am thinking of except that maybe I was young and watching a reshowing of the 1985 miniseries, and thinking it dark compared to the Disney version.

I think you must be thinking of the 1985 version--that's the one with the hella creepy jaberwocky scene.

I finally found it. It's the 1999 version called, lo and behold, Alice in Wonderland. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alice_in_Wonderland_(1999_film). I also wanted to apologize for not showing up to dessert night yesterday. I really did mean to show up, but my night had a few twists I didn't expect. I don't know the answer...but have you ever seen Alice?
It's a Czech movie Ri & I watch w/ bookclub after reading House of Leaves.
Very interesting. Stop motion, claymation and real life people. Odd.
Anyway, good luck finding it!
