Why do you have a host mom? Is this for Christmas? And what is an omiyage - is that like pabaon?

You can apply for it! I dunno why there's an institution handling these things in such a small prefecture, but yeah, you can call them up and ask for a host family. It's for any time, whenever you/the host family feel like going out. And omiyage is souvenir, but yeah pabaon na rin :))
