Stars Falling on a Wonderland - Open [incomplete]

(continued from this thread)Naminé had expected to see the familiar blue sky stretching above a canopy of grass and mushrooms, the normal Wonderland sky that she had seen in Sora's memories and in Castle Oblivion. She didn't really think Riku had ended up here, but it was the closest world to Traverse Town, and she already knew that Riku was no ( Read more... )

Unlike Naminé who had been aware of the change in their surroundings Axel was completely entranced by the fallen stars. His green eyes were glossed, head tilted high enough that the hat placed curtly over his head fell right off without protest. For those moments he spoke not a word, the silence stretching until his mouth opened, albit slightly.

"The Darkness... Naminé, the Darkness is sweltering. The lives its consuming. The hearts..." His words were neither intricate nor abstract as they were before, more like a kind of mindless babble that even he probably wasn't aware of. Almost as if he was like a puppet on strings the redhead turned his head towards the girl and gave her a ghastly smile.

"It's breathtaking, is it not?" And just like that Axel's eyes focused back through their gaudy shaded lens and he leaned over to pick up the fallen hat, almost as if none of it occurred in the first place. He took one last gander at the massacre before striding forward, gloved fingers absent-mindedly running along the fur edges of his coat.

It was a beautiful sight to behold, but Axel, in his own way, had confirmed that it was as Naminé thought: Those stars were destroyed worlds, or something of that sort. Whatever the beautiful streaks of light were, they were foretelling death and destruction.

Looking at the sky in a new 'light', Naminé shuddered and looked away, unable to even comprehend the situation correctly. All she knew that there was a chance Riku could have been on one of those worlds... No, she couldn't think like that. Sora didn't think negative things, that's how he was able to do the things he did. She had to think that way.

Naminé hurried behind Axel, looking very worried but striving forward all the same.

"What if... Nevermind. Where are we going?"

"You know you never question where you're going when you're in Wonderland, Naminé." Axel spoke, not bothering to take a second glance at the skyline massacre and instead continued onward with the path he took. If the redhead had done the ability to read the girl's thoughts he would've chuckled, idly commenting that, as suicidal as Riku was, he doubted the latter would be ignorant enough as to end up in a weakening world.

"It's not really the matter of our destination, but how we get there." The grass easily gave away, leaving the fading imprints of his boots while he trailed the lush greenery. Having found a group of giant mushrooms Axel casually stepped on the head, using them very much like a staircase as he slowly ascended from the ground.

"Unless you had some place you had in mind."

Unlike Axel, all of Naminé's attention had returned to the shower of stars. It was slowly ebbing now. The show was over, it seemed. The few blinking lights that remained gave her some comfort - at least not everything vanished.

"Huh? Oh, I'm sorry... you're right," Naminé nodded. Wonderland was a land full of... wonder after all. But it still seemed like Axel knew where he was going, enigmatically leading the way to some place unknown. Naminé had to do some running to catch up; even the mushroom heads that Axel so easily climbed up on were daunting to her. Back at the Castle, she didn't have to worry about this.

"N-No, it just ... It just seems like you know where you're going, that's all," Naminé explained, taking her time to go from one mushroom to the next as they ascended higher. It was probably just her imagination, but the gaps between the mushrooms seemed to be getting bigger and bigger.

"I... I was just wondering where Riku - ah! - was..."
