eBay Scam

Nov 26, 2007 12:17

When I've sold GBA games on eBay, I never sell the box or manual so I guess I just naively assume that you can trust people. I found a seller selling PAL versions of games and so I bought four of them. But as soon as I opened the package in the mail, I was like, these have to be fake. So I called Nintendo customer support to confirm that these ( Read more... )

Hi! I'm a random stranger. I just wanted to ask, because I can't tell from your photos, but when you look closely at the Nintendo logo on the back of the cartridge, does it actually say Nintendo?

I work for GameStop and the best way I've found of spotting fakes eople try to trade in is that logo. So far I've seen one that said Nlntendo and another that was actually Nintondo.

The backs says Nintendo but the logo is bigger than on a real cartridge and it's in the wrong font.
Also there's no space between "MODEL NO.AGB-002" so it says "MODELNO.AGB-002".

I have a KO cartridge of A Link to the Past, and I don't really care. It works, I'm satisfied. That's what you get for buying off Ebay.

Supposedly, there are problems with saving on pirated copies (I assume because of the ridiculous battery in there?).
I don't trust playing an RPG on a fake cart that might crap out on me.

Actually it's done really well for the month I've had it. Saves just fine. Get back to me in a year, we'll see if it's still working, lol. I think I'm going to buy a legit copy though, so my brother can play Four Swords with me.

Are those yellow bounded metallic circles ... save batteries?! Wow, talk about living in the 90's. That's some pretty ghetto infrastructure, actually. But I guess counterfeit makers assume folks would get tricked by halfassed Photoshop jobs rather than the insides.

I was amazed by the save batteries too, lmfao. Guess they don't expect people to open it up.

Just as a warning, PAL games never have a lettered rating on them like that. E, T, M, and whatever other US ratings there are are not used in PAL games.

...unless you're talking about the Australian version - also PAL - which will have G, PG, M or MA on there. They're also coloured, now, and while they include a number for M and MA, it's very small.
