L answered the door fairly quickly, giving her a timid, tired smile. He'd been working hard lately, keeping busy and settling into the new house that he and Matt had rented.
"Hello. It's good to see you. I have a surprise," he said helpfully. Indeed, there was an aroma hanging heavily in the air that smelled vaguely of something baking... though whether or not it was good was up for debate.
"I made cake..." he spoke as he started walking back toward the kitchen, leaving the door ajar for Kiddy.
Kiddy lightly smiled when she saw him. "Hey Ryu." she stepped inside and could smell that he was baking something instantly. She wondered for a moment if she had told him about her birthday, but she couldn't remember.
"I brought you more candy." She placed the box on a coffee table and followed after him into the kitchen, hoping to find out if it's a birthday cake or just L making a cake for his sweet tooth. "Sweet new house." she commented as she looked around.
L did happen to know it was her birthday. Being the world's greatest detective had its advantages, and even though he wasn't currently working at the police station, it wasn't exactly difficult for him to trace down that information about the female cyborg.
"More candy?" he sounded a little bit surprised, but no more than usual. "Excellent, thank you." When she entered the kitchen, she would find it spick and span despite the cake-making process that had occurred, but the cake itself wasn't exactly an affair to get anything but nervous over. It was overly puffy, and the center looked distinctly unbaked. It appeared that he'd put too much baking powder and too much sugar in the in the cake, and that he hadn't quite mixed the eggs in well enough. "I even made homemade frosting," he pointed out, starting to carefully spoon oddly lifeless and flat butter cream frosting over the top of the questionable cake.
