Everyone, if I may have your attention, and ask of you to take notes. My name is Raine Sage. Students, I expect you to be paying close attention, for I intend to give a test about this in the near future.

Today's date is September 17th of our Luceti calender. I hope that all of you reading this are familiar with the guide in some form; I am doing ( Read more... )

Whoa. This is some pretty heavy stuff. Things here are definitely worse than what I imagined. If the enemy forces are really as powerful as they sound, the only way we stand a chance if they strike again is if we're organized. I'm also in favor of town meetings.

"Shifts," huh? You say they're a change in the natural order. Isn't that like... magic, or something? I don't really understand how they're different.

The term "magic" carries different connotations, though I suppose the theory is the same. However considering what the shifts are capable of, grouping it together with common magic just doesn't work. It's not really a subject that's easily explained, especially when we don't have a means of using it for ourselves. We simply need to be aware that it exists... the experiments and the results, for instance.

Huh. I guess that makes sense. Sorry if that seemed like a dumb question. Most of this magic stuff goes right over my head.

Thanks, Ms. Raine. Judging by the guide you wrote, you've gone through a lot of trouble to help people here. Just let me know if I can do anything to return the favor.

It's understandable. You're new here, after all, and haven't had a chance to really experience one of these situations for yourself.

If you're interested in finding ways to help the village, perhaps you could look more into the organizations available, to see if there is any place you can lend your skills.

(You've really landed yourself into something big this time, Phoenix.)

Thank you for this, and for the guide. It's hard to swallow all of it, but it's helpful all the same.

Do you regularly hold town meetings, or have a council or government to speak of here?

I understand. It always takes some time before a situation like this can be accepted. I'm just trying to do the best I can to help.

I wish I could say that was the case, where town meetings are concerned. I'm hoping that the town can become inspired toward them. As for the rest, considering the circumstances, one hasn't really developed. There are people who are deferred to in times of crisis, but nothing official.

...that probably makes maintaining the peace...hard.

Things usually are fairly quiet for the most part, with your occasional person doing damage. Groups try to come together to aid against larger disruptions... but then you have those who'd rather get through a situation without assistance.

I suppose it still isn't organized the best it could be, but we've managed this long. There really are too many different ideals in place to maintain something that would be accepted by everyone.

...

I see.

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Kasumi, and I am a jou-nin class kunoichi of the Rokkaku Hamlet, where I also serve as Vice Chancellor. I have extensive experience in surveillance, espionage, and other forms of covert action. If it would be of use to the cause here... I am fully willing to allow myself to be used to gather information when needed.

Yes, you've introduced yourself to me before. The most we can do now is ask questions when opportunities come up. Your skills would be better lent to the groups... perhaps you should speak with Sir Sigmund, as he focuses on those who wish to remain 'unaffiliated' in a sense.

I apologize, it is a habit to introduce myself often.

Crusaders?

Holy soldiers. They fight not for life or for property, but for something they consider sacred in a more religious sense.

I've been doing more studies on "shifting" and other various unknown elements presented in recent information. However one of the new feathers has caused a rather abrupt interruption into my work. I'm afraid until this rat problem is taken care of, I will not be able to continue my labor.
