Buffy dropped the duffel bag on the ground, letting it slide easily from her shoulder and thud to the ground with hard, clanking noises. It was full of weapons; she had graduated from strict hand-to-hand (with the occasional stake. Now, she had to extend those trained instincts into killing machines like axes and swords. The replica of the Slayer scythe remained quite decidedly at the house. She couldn't bring herself to use it again. Not without the legacy to back it up. Feeling so disinclined felt odd. Very odd. She certainly was not accustomed to pussy-footing around any weapon. The fact that this one was only an imitation of the original? It made it all the more laughable.

And yet, she again left it at home. Instead, Buffy had piled a portion of her collection into the bag. A whole year in Luceti had allowed her to develop quite the assortment--things she recognized from her own world, and others from different worlds that she tried out only when she felt ambitious. And ambition was sorely lacking, recently. Except, within these sessions with Spike? Buffy was beginning to regain some of the violent metal that had always felt so infectious before now. But that benefit came with a significant amount of wrongness. Their nights of training were just as clandestine and physically intense as their past liaisons; although the context was more martial than sexual. Minus those few kisses and the blistering intimate tension that seemed to build in so many of their shared moments.

So it was with trepidation that Buffy waited for her instructor and temporary mentor in the clearing they had used for all other meetings of this sort. Her arms swung at her sides as her said trepidation (peppered with impatience) began to manifest itself.
