8:00 Halloween Night consultmybooks October 31 2010, 03:01:10 UTC
[Eventually, once it becomes a choice between risking the tent or another night outside, Giles risks the tent. And he knows it it the instant he passes through the protective bubble - it's like a fog lifting from his mind, and suddenly everything around him is real and safe again. Giles does not like parties, or crowds, or noise, but he also doesn't like being psychologically tortured and so the ball, in his mind, is definitely the lesser of two evils.

The first thing he does is find a quiet corner and, with his newfound clarify of mind, attempt to properly heal the knife wounds in his arm. That takes about fifteen minutes. And then Giles grabs a seat on the fountain and...sits. His policy of "walk and it can't get you" comes back to bite him once he's no longer jumping at his own shadow, and he is very tired. But he will also be keeping a worried eye out for his friends, seeing how they've fared this week.]

[He thinks, then responds in a fairly jovial manner,] I have a feeling it's an old conversation between my friends and I back to haunt me.

I'm very sorry to hear that.

It's not so bad in retrospect. This just means I was really put in a box in addition to my supposedly being sheltered.

So I get the twisted sense of humor, and you get the penchant for metaphors.

I wonder which is worse?

Still. Should burn well enough, if you wanted.

That looks to be the case.

Well, I don't mind it so much anymore . . . [So the question is, do you mind yours, Giles? Probably. But wait,] Burn?

[Flatly] Burn.

We're having a bonfire after this and burning the costumes. You're welcome to add yours' in, if you want.

A bonfire, eh? Hm. I'll consider it. I admit, I've grown a little attached to . . . [he means the boxes, naturally. For some reason.]

[For some reason. Giles shrugs and sighs]

Suit yourself.

[Dipping a finger into the fountain to test it's blood-like appearance for good reason, Fujiko tilts her head at Giles.]

You look rather exhausted for things just getting started.

Yes, I do. And I am. [He's not going to argue] You're not?

No. Should I be?

[She wasn't about to go out in that fog or make it worse on herself so really she spent the last week reading and sleeping and blocking out nightmares so that she didn't break and snap. She's still feigning more bravado than is in her.]

If you're not, then all the better. We can't all be traumatized wrecks in here.

[He winces as yet another pinching pain shoots through his back] I'm just waiting for the week to be over with.

[Glances at warily.] Goodness you make me relieved I bunkered down. What on Earth happened to you?

The same thing that's happened to most of the tent. Hallucinations and whatever the hell was in that mist.
