First Battle

[Time: 12:00pm

From somewhere on the mountain side, there's a of power proceeded by a shaft of light that shoots up straight towards the sky. When the wind dies and the dust settles, all that's left is a figure standing in the center of a rocky outcropping.

In his hand, is a large, sword-like weapon resting with it's tip against the ground.]

That's not Ven.

[Aqua rushes forward to stand next to Frederic as she answers his question. She quickly summons her Keyblade and stands at the ready.]

[Frederic brings forth his conductor's baton quickly in order to aid the other two as they stand ready to fight against the impostor Ventus.]

[A trail of Darkness appears behind him as the blades connect. But instead of recoiling, Vanitas just goes up, flipping cleanly over Terra. Before he lands, he twists his body around to face Terra's back, and lunges quickly again.]

[Terra grits his teeth as he sees the darkness exuded from their clashing blades, but he's still in too much danger to properly process what that means. He follows 'Ven' halfway as he flips over him, training kicking in to tell him to move away--now. He dashes forward, hitting his shoulder guard with his Keyblade still in hand.

His armor takes the brunt of the back attack, causing Terra to stagger badly.]

[Oh no you don't. Aqua rushes forward, lunging toward Vanitas to try and get a few combos on him with her Keyblade while he's landing his attack on Terra.]

[Frederic uses his baton to cast a spell of ice spears then makes them into a physical form, but shouts to Aqua and Terra before sending them flying towards Vanitas.]

Aqua! Mister Terra!

[Aqua's attack works, and she manages to land two hits on him before he can turn and block. In the same second, Ventus' clothing vanishes beneath the dark suit that molds itself over it, offering him a boost in defense.]

Correct. [He finally responds to Aqua's earlier statement.] I'm not Ventus. His heart's become part of mine, now.

[And with that, he tries to strike her back, charging the χ-blade with a firaga for good measure. He has a bone to pick with her, especially.]

[Terra hisses inside his helmet, taking precious seconds to recover before spinning to face the center of the battle. Seeing Aqua's friend with magic at the ready, Terra moves out of the way.

His heart's become part of mine. He can feel the anger and dread welling up inside him. This was...]

Let him go, Vanitas!

[enduringwaters]

[Aqua had a little bit of time to prepare, so she's able to cast a barrier around herself to block his attack. Normally she'd counter blast, but instead she holds back to give Frederic an opening, cartwheeling out of the way when she has a chance.]

[After launching the ice spears at Vanitas as fast as possible, he summons some fireballs just as quickly to launch them at Vantias as well.]

[The attack is fast, but it's long-range. Vanitas has enough of a warning as the other two get out of the way to see it coming.

Instinctively, he tries to teleport out of the way. It's a move that hasn't worked before, and almost immediately he tries to correct himself.

Except this time, it works. He disappears from the center of the battlefield just as the ice spears whistle through the spot he was just standing in.]

[Fortunately for Frederic, his disappearing act has a limited range, and he's too far for him to reappear behind him. Instead, he chooses a closer target.

Terra he's not too concerned about. Aqua poses the most threat to him out of all of them, so it's her he focuses his attention on, as a dark cloud forms out of the air behind her and that dual-layered voice speaks up again.]

You don't get it. [Another attack from his weapon, which he aims right for Aqua's head.] What you see before you is a complete being. Ventus is gone; there's nothing to let go of.

[Vanitas knows just how to trick Terra. He charges with his Keyblade at the ready upon hearing those words, blinded by that taunt. Ven's not gone. How dare he...!]

[enduringwaters]

[He's fast, too fast, and she can't react in time to defend herself with a barrier again. She's fought him like this before but... he's stronger than she remembers. And her being without her armor doesn't help either. She can vaguely hear Vanitas' words as the χ-blade makes contact, causing her to yelp sharply before she falls to the ground. Unfortunately she's knocked out cold, so Terra and Frederic are now on their own.]

[Frederic's taken by surprise when Aqua is knocked out cold, but runs towards Terra in order to back him up.]
