[Okay, Robert would normally be avoiding the hell out of the stand - it has people, like the rest of this festival, and doesn't have any electrical equipment that he has any pretense of checking - the fact Vash was so helpful a few days ago, and such a kind person to him (has always been, never subscribes to the damned rumours) is enough for Robert to meander, hideously awkwardly, up to the stand when there's a minimum of people around it.]

... Hello, Vash. [He attempts a very uncomfortable, but real, smile.]

Is business going well? Your flowers are looking especially beautiful this year... I must say I'm impressed. [Why are those Prunus serrulata blossoms reminding him of Donatello...? Huh.]

Well, hey there Robert! [Vash smiles and waves and ignores the slight awkwardness that seems to be pooling from Robert in waves. Seeing as you help care for his sister Vash has gotten an idea that social situations aren't your strong suit and isn't about to try to make it worse.]

It's no problem at all! Gotta help make sure everyone is okay after crazy shifts like that after all! Never can be too careful!

[He beams proudly at the compliment to his flowers.] Yeah! Don't they! You know, I say they're our best ones every year, but I think this year it's the truth! We've worked pretty hard to make them grow up healthy and beautiful! See any you like?

[Awkwardness indeed. Vash probably knows just how sheltered Robert seems, just how stilted his interactions can be - probably especially obvious with his dad and his uncle - and Robert is still hideously unused to these kinds of situations.]

Yes, that is true... Though in the end nobody seemed too badly hurt, which is a relief.

I'm... admittedly quite partial to that sprig of Japanese cherry blossoms... [As he says this, he picks up the sprig in question and admires it.]

It reminds me of somebody, for some reason. [Even if the connection doesn't really make any logical sense. Maybe Robert's going all sentimental because of the festival mood.]

Oh... Well, you certainly don't have to, but... thank you very much. [Colour Robert surprised. But he smiles after the initial moment of shock and diligently pays the required sum. It's obvious he has far more money than he knows what to do with.

After that, he takes two of the beautiful sprigs with an almost reverent, delicate touch.]

But really... Vivi deserves that care regardless. I'm only glad that your father and the rest of your family see fit to let me be the one to give it to her.

I just wouldn't want to become a bother, or an eyesore, to your family. [Robert says it while smiling still, but it is a legitimate worry of his. That beautiful girl and her wonderful family are one of the few things he has that he cares about here, that is something that makes him feel like he belongs and is a person and not just a robot that occasionally teaches math.]

But I'm glad. She always finds a way to brighten up my days...

Well, I'm certainly glad to hear that. Though I wonder why exactly her partner is regarded with such disdain...

I never really knew much about that situation in general. But if it's unpleasant I wouldn't wish to bring anything up.

He's just a jerk. At least, he's always acted like one in front of me. I really don't know what Amelia sees in him. Apparently she says he's not so bad once you get to know him.

But I wouldn't know. [He really wouldn't. Robert has so many troubles reading people.]

I hope she's at least happy with him, though... But it can certainly be troublesome to see people with partners that don't seem suited to them.

At any rate, I hope you manage to get things cleared up with him eventually... It is always uncomfortable when a relationship causes problems for other people.
