It had been a stressful day. Wolfwood was gone and Legato was being a creeper like always. Oh, and he was still sick. Much better than he was a few days ago, but he still felt lightheaded when standing and this stuffed nose was driving him nuts by keeping him up all night.

When he suddenly felt a crushing weight fall on top of him his body reacted without needing any thought from his brain. All it knew was it was apparently under attack and needed to defend itself. It didn't care that it was possibly a poor, confused new feather.

With a yelp of surprise he shoves the weight off of himself and draws his hidden semi-automatic out to point at the intruder. Which is about the same time that his mind catches up with his body.

Meryl really never does know what she can expect at home, coming back from work, especially not on a day like this... but the chaotic noises she's blasted with were not within expectation.

With some hustle in her step, she makes her debut on the scene, poking her head in the doorway. Her processing of the scene spills out from her mouth in order. "What happened?! W-- the ceiling! Did Luffy start-- who is that?"

"I- I'm fine." He managed to blurt out.

Really, it wasn't that far from the truth: Livio is a sturdy guy. At this point the only thing physically bothering him are the wings, which are still sore from being jostled like that. If nothing else, he felt guilty for making Milly worry over him.

Oh, and that must have been the other girl who was with Vash that time. Who's name he never got to catch either.

"I'm Livio."

He might as well introduce himself now, since that's what everybody has been asking in rapid succession. Though, he should probably save the part where he's their friend in the future for when they aren't in the middle of (understandably) freaking out.

For someone who had a man crash through his ceiling and on top of him, Vash is pretty calm really. At least now that Milly isn't about to shoot anyone. With a sigh he plops back onto the sofa and resumes flipping through the journal for the guide.

"No, Luffy wasn't here." Vash makes a motion towards Livio. "He kinda just crashed through our roof." As he finally locates the guide Vash hands the book back over to Livio.

"Well, I suppose I can't really say it's nice to meet you here Livio, but this place isn't all bad. This is a guide that covers a lot about this place, but the short story is we've all been brought here to Luceti by scientists. Some claim that they're trying to send us home, others... others don't seem as friendly." He'll let that sink in and anyone else add something to that for a moment.

At least Milly doesn't take much convincing. It probably helps that Meryl comes out right after too, although Amelia is already dreading the morning to come. Vash may be calm now, but none of them is likely to be cheerful without any sleep.

Amelia is good with listening for the most part--apparently someone named Luffy makes a habit of wrecking the ceiling, and this guy is Livio. But when Vash tries to describe Luceti from the glass half full perspective, she lets out a sigh.

"Not as friendly? They do unimaginable things to us for experiments, and that's 'not as friendly'?" Amelia shakes her head. "Stop trying to sugarcoat it."

While you two argue over semantics, Livio was a bit more concerned with the more practical issue of returning home. The way everything was set up it certainly seemed like they were preparing any new arrivals for just accepting their fate like there was no chance of resistance.

Even with the guide there, it was an awful lot of information to try and digest at once, so after a brief moment Livio looked towards Vash with a quietly serious expression.

"... and there's nothing we can do?"

Because if anyone can some up with a plan to save the day, it's Vash.

Milly felt her heart drop into her stomach like a lead filled balloon at Mr. Vash's words, and then Amelia's, and forced herself not to burst into tears. She couldn't bear the thought of some nameless, faceless stranger scientist doing unimaginable things to Mr. Priest.

"They're horrible people, Mr. Vash," she said in a small voice. "I'm sorry Mr. Livio, but that's the truth. You have to be very careful or you'll be-"

She stopped to swallow.

"You might get carried away one day."

One of the reasons Vash had attempted to sugar coat the truth was for Milly. The other being he knows Luceti is a lot to take in for someone who just arrived, but now that the not so pleasant truth was out Vash just rubs the back of his neck with a sigh ( ... )

Wrong answer, Vash.

He's still trying to take all of this in. It really shouldn't be surprising that those capable of taking people from other times and worlds would be capable of such a barrier, but still the fact that this sort of power even exists in the universe to begin with is unsettling. Far more so since everyone trapped here is helpless against it.

And no, he really doesn't need to say that out loud. He's had his fair share of being a human guinea pig, the difference being that his modifications were consensual.

While he stays quiet for a moment, he's now visibly frustrated both at his own weakness and the fact that innocent people like those girls are also being dragged here. Livio isn't stupid, he knows what they are capable of, and it's because of this that he's not going to push Vash to try and fix everything with him. If they really were capable of that sort of power then they were truly outmatched.

Right, Milly. When she speaks, Amelia sadly--and maybe a little guiltily--looks toward the other woman. They all missed Wolfwood, but Milly is taking it especially hard. But she doesn't cry when she talks about it this time, and Amelia respects her for that. Vash finally delves into the truth, and Amelia's listening just as closely as the stranger for a moment. Even hearing it repeated, it's still hard for her to believe that someone like Vash just can't figure out a way to fix it all.

Livio's gone quiet too, and Amelia doesn't have to imagine why. She's worn the same look he has, even recently. So despite what Amelia said herself not even a few minutes ago, she tries to add her own good note. "For what it's worth, the people here actually are friendly." With notable exceptions, but Livio doesn't need to hear any of her problems. "Most everyone is willing to help out someone, even if they're a stranger. But there might be people you already know here too. You can use the journal to check."

"Right." Vash nods at Amelia's statement. "And if there isn't, most people in the village are willing to help someone out and there are plenty of empty apartments you can stay in."
