[Meanwhile, in an off-shoot of the main tunnel that stretches between the village and the beach, Mithos is still stewing in his cell. But in the past few days there has been a subtle change, starting with the morning that, rather than resenting the injustice of his captivity, he began to consider the other side of the situation. It was natural, nothing forced.
He hadn't for a second stopped to think how unlike him that was.]

[And Frey was feeling adventurous today, so he does end up going down the tunnels to look around a bit. He'd never actually explored them before: The only times he'd gone down there were for the drafts, and that wasn't the time for such a thing.
So when he stumbles upon a row of cells, one of them with a familiar person inside, he pauses.] You are.....
[Upon hearing someone approaching, he had set down the book he was reading and stood up from his place on the cot, ready with a look that could freeze boiling water. Except the person who appears on the other side of the iron bars is not anyone he expects. A look of mild surprise and confusion flashes across his face before settling into a stony stare.]
What are you doing here? [Not one of his captors, but hardly any better. A human... One surrounded by greater uncertainty than other humans, and therefore a danger.]
I came to explore the tunnels.... but I should be asking you that.... Why are you stuck in there? [A worried look crosses his face as he eyes the bars. Who would keep a child here.....?]
I was captured by enemies. [Though...after Raine's visit yesterday, he hesitates to brand her with that label. He isn't sure what else to consider her as, but...she really does want to help him.]
I'm not a child, nor am I helpless. [Even if, well, yeah, he can't do anything about the situation. His pride prevents him from accepting that.]
They're people who believe they're right and I'm wrong. [But this distinction is quickly becoming blurry, the more he thinks about it. The past two days in particular have turned his mind inside out and changed how things look to him. It's confusing...]
.....I see. I don't understand how that can be when you are in a cell, though.
That's a very vague way to put it. [Then again, Frey knows 'right' and 'wrong' are different to each person. He even has firsthand experience. That is one of the reasons why there's such thing as war.]
They think I'm wrong to attack others. [No claims that "he couldn't possibly understand", just the truth. And afterwards, nothing about their arrogance in thinking that only they can judge right and wrong...because he isn't so sure about that anymore. His conversation with Raine threw doubt over so much of what he had believed.]
Why are you attacking people....? [A concerned look. That doesn't sound like something a normal child would do, but again, there are so many different circumstances, some that Frey doesn't want to even consider.]
He hadn't for a second stopped to think how unlike him that was.]

Who are these people? [He'll eye the lock, wondering if he can break it.]

Because I want them to stay away from me.

Can't you just avoid them?
