[From his high aerial vantage point, Hiccup may eventually spot this particular little scientist, taking holophotographs in the midst of the chaos. Once the immediate panic had died down, and the realization that these things were probably simulated had taken hold, scientific curiosity came out in full force.

He has seen Toothless before. He has seen Hiccup before. He has never seen Hiccup ride Toothless before.

... He's just going to stare.]

... Incredible.

[He's so enthralled that he might just be an easy target to get ambushed.]

[Robert would debate the "hideous" part, actually. Those are some very beautiful patterns and he thinks all life is pretty awesome anyway but more importantly those are some very sharp teeth. Aimed at his midsection.

Dulled instincts means Robert almost reacts too slowly, and he moves up and out of the way only a few seconds before those jaws would have closed around his waist. Simulation or not, Robert is certain he doesn't want a giant reptilian to bite down on him.]

Gah! That quite literally m-materialized out of nowhere...!

[He can be dumb, but he wouldn't be so dumb as to miss a giant, angry, two-headed dragon.]

[Robert stares with fascination as Hiccup's soothing voice manages to calm, or perhaps merely distract, the dragon fractionally, enough so that it at least doesn't look like it's about to bite anything now. However, its posture retains traces of anger, and it's really only like putting a cap on a bottle about to explode.]

I... I am n-not certain if... if you can rationalize long with these simulations...

[He feels awful suggesting harm over help, but... if it's something that can't really be reasoned with...]

Is... is this dragon from... your world? [Because Hiccup does seem to recognize it.]

[Robert watches warily. He's just as uncomfortable as Hiccup about harming something, even something simulated.]

... It is... an a-astonishing organism...

[This wasn't the way Robert wanted to meet Hiccup next. But he and Hiccup tend to meet at relatively poor times.

The Zippleback's other head wafts a few curls of a green gas as it narrows its eyes at Robert. He backs away a little, fearful both of the gas and of raising the ire of something so dangerous.]

[Time to be brave, Robert. If that's even possible. He takes a few halting steps closer to what logically probably isn't the smartest idea to approach and curls his fingers under the jaw.

The skin reminds him a lot of Don's, though it's noticeably softer - more like faux leather. He concentrates on making gentle little scratching motions.]

... I... I can't believe this is actually working.

Even the dirigible jellies were aggressive when I saw them... [So what's different about this dragon that lets it behave relatively calmly when treated gently?]

Can we even... t-take simulations from one place into other simulations...? [To be fair, being able to take a giant two-headed gas-spewing dragon around sounds several kinds of awesome. Though Robert is more concerned about the logistics of fitting into much of anywhere.]

[Robert focuses on caressing the Zippleback's chin slowly.] It seems like some sort of bizarre m-malfunction... of the s-simulation technology.

... But it is certainly... f-fascinating. Parts of Terra have, er, been manifesting on a c-consistent basis.

I am not certain myself. [He has hypotheses, though...

But in the meantime, the Zippleback - who is behaving surprisingly well, actually - whuffs a little; not irritatedly, but enough to get their attention.]

... This s-seems like... something you have done on a regular basis, I presume?
