If he was questioned later (and deigned to answer truthfully), Van would say that he didn't recall falling asleep. He might also say that, even if he did recall falling asleep, he wouldn't have done so in a shower. Particularly not a shower belonging to someone else. In nothing but pants. That weren't his.
He might have appreciated a moment to contemplate how things could have gone so drastically wrong to land him here. He was not going to get that moment.
