[Did someone say food? Because Jack is rather hungry and those refreshments are awfully tempting.

And he's not coming back for a third helping, nope, not at all. Totally innocent here.]

[Gilbert is standing at the food table setting out some more sandwiches when Jack arrives, which means he can't easily just... hide. Like he has been for most of the party thus far.

He does pretend not to notice that someone else is there, though, and just keeps working. He's moving just a little faster now, though, the better to get back into the kitchen quickly.]

Gil!

[Too late-- he's been spotted, and Jack is heading over in his direction with a smile.]

Did you make all of this yourself? You could've asked for help, you know.

[He pauses, hand hovering over the plate for a moment, then shrugs slightly and sets back to work without looking over. Those sandwiches don't set themselves up, you know.]

I wanted to do it myself.

But there are so many of us in the house, it would've been much faster if you'd asked. Besides, the more the merrier!

[And he'll just be reaching out to snag a sandwich from that plate, still smiling.]

There are plenty of people here to eat it.

[Gilbert shies away a little as Jack reaches over; it's totally just so he isn't in the way of the plate, of course, and not that he's trying to avoid his former master. Or anything of the sort.]

And I had to do it without Elliot realizing.

[Don't think that goes unnoticed, Gil, though Jack isn't going to say anything about it. Yet.]

That's all the more reason to ask someone to distract him.

Leo was doing that. Otherwise he probably would have helped.

[Considering that Leo is probably the only other one in the house who could have helped... or helped without making matters worse, at least.]

Oh, so that's where he went. I was wondering why I hadn't seen him all morning.

[Never mind that Leo vanishing is a fairly regular occurrence around the house, though he can usually be found somewhere amidst a stack of books when that happens.]

[Gilbert half-nods, half-shrugs, setting the last of the sandwiches on the plate and frowning at it thoughtfully to make sure it all looks nice and presentable. They are just sandwiches, but this is Elliot's party and he wants everything to be nice.]

Leo offered to distract him, and he's probably the best at it.

[Except maybe for the Nightray brothers, but Gilbert was obviously already busy and he wouldn't ask something like that of Vincent.]

But that's no reason for you to be hiding over here. Come on, Gil! You're supposed to have fun when it's time to have fun, and this is a party, after all!

[And Gil will be getting his arm grabbed whether he likes it or not as Jack attempts to drag him away from his little hideaway by the food table.]

[Gilbert at least manages to bite back the startled yelp that wants to escape him at that, turning it instead into a faint grunt as he finds himself being dragged away. Not that it matters as much anymore that he stays hidden, since he was mostly trying to hide from Jack himself, but... still.]

Wh-what? Where are we going?

Why, to enjoy the party, of course!

[It's your brother's birthday and you're going to have fun because Jack says so. There will be no protests on the matter.

... for someone as slender as Jack is, he's surprisingly strong when he puts his mind to it.]

But I was... the food...

[His protests are in vain, he's aware of the fact even as he makes them. But he really can't stop himself, even as he finds himself being dragged off away from his nice safe table.

The only problem now is exactly what Jack thinks of as "fun".]

[Are there party games? Jack hopes there are party games. If not, then he's just going to be pulling Gilbert out to a more populated area of the house and looking around for some sort of objects of celebration, such as hats or noisemakers or anything similar.]

[If there are party games then Gilbert certainly didn't bring them. He was only worried about the food and the cake. Birthday cake is a very important thing. He'll just be dragged along in Jack's wake, looking distinctly uncomfortable about the entire thing and wishing he was back guarding said cake instead of being pulled around the house.]
