And he's not coming back for a third helping, nope, not at all. Totally innocent here.]

He does pretend not to notice that someone else is there, though, and just keeps working. He's moving just a little faster now, though, the better to get back into the kitchen quickly.]

[Too late-- he's been spotted, and Jack is heading over in his direction with a smile.]
Did you make all of this yourself? You could've asked for help, you know.
Reply
I wanted to do it myself.

[And he'll just be reaching out to snag a sandwich from that plate, still smiling.]

[Gilbert shies away a little as Jack reaches over; it's totally just so he isn't in the way of the plate, of course, and not that he's trying to avoid his former master. Or anything of the sort.]
And I had to do it without Elliot realizing.

That's all the more reason to ask someone to distract him.

[Considering that Leo is probably the only other one in the house who could have helped... or helped without making matters worse, at least.]
Reply
[Never mind that Leo vanishing is a fairly regular occurrence around the house, though he can usually be found somewhere amidst a stack of books when that happens.]
Reply
Leo offered to distract him, and he's probably the best at it.
[Except maybe for the Nightray brothers, but Gilbert was obviously already busy and he wouldn't ask something like that of Vincent.]

[And Gil will be getting his arm grabbed whether he likes it or not as Jack attempts to drag him away from his little hideaway by the food table.]

Wh-what? Where are we going?

[It's your brother's birthday and you're going to have fun because Jack says so. There will be no protests on the matter.
... for someone as slender as Jack is, he's surprisingly strong when he puts his mind to it.]
Reply
[His protests are in vain, he's aware of the fact even as he makes them. But he really can't stop himself, even as he finds himself being dragged off away from his nice safe table.
The only problem now is exactly what Jack thinks of as "fun".]
