. . . She still looks busy. The fact that he's no longer a child makes this all the more awkward on his end, since a part of the enthusiasm up and vanished, but that's no fault of hers. Isn't that why he came regardless? With that thought in mind, all he can do for now is simply stand by and watch from a fair distance.]

[Yes. Just throwing that out there.]

Oh, drat, I got paint on my food.
[Just gonna. Crouch down and tear off the painted pieces and put them on a napkin nearby to be thrown away later. No biggie. Oh, and might as well sneak a bite of a cookie while she's down there anyway.]

Well. Even the most awesome people need to indulge themselves from time to time, or so he reasons with himself. Without missing a beat or moving his head and continuing to paint, he throws out:]

Well, I was fine until you mentioned it...

It would've kicked in after a while. There is nothing wrong with taking a well-deserved respite.

Even if they were behind schedule, things still looked pretty good overall, especially considering that most of the other people painting claimed that they hadn't ever done so before or weren't that good at it. It probably helps that the design is fairly simple and they're only in the preliminary stages of putting it down, but still, it's amazing what people can do when they work together, isn't it? And Pao-lin feels warm and fuzzy with pride that she helped to organize this, that others listened to her and agreed to work with her and that they're already getting this far on the first day. She can't take all the credit for the project -- she ( ... )

He manages to keep this up for a good while until he feels something drilling holes into him from behind, so he turns, and he sees Pao-lin in her sunny glory. Unwittingly, he stares for a second too long -- long enough to make it awkward for himself, and with a curt nod he snaps back to the mural and slaps the brush onto the surface. In the process, dots of excess paint go airborne and hit him in the face.
Just his luck. (Thankfully, it's only a few tiny splotches here and there, like colorful moles ( ... )

Don't mind her, Hubert. She's just going to attempt to sneak up on you from behind and try to tickle you.]
