[...Where even is he? Suddenly, the small village seems so unfamiliar and he's taking every wrong turn. He was pretty sure that House 15 - his destination, where Kaori is - was just a little ways down the street...but now he can't even see the community building he had started out from. His determination is rapidly being swallowed up by paranoid fear. He shouldn't even be out here. He feels vulnerable, easy to pick off, plodding around with the crutches.

Then the day takes another sharp downturn as he senses an overly familiar presence and snaps his eyes down the street to see Kratos.

...Dammit. One of the last people he ever wanted to run into in this state. And there's nowhere to turn off of this road. What to do...]

[Kratos notices Mithos, unfortunately for the boy. He walks over to him looking incredibly guilty, perhaps more than usual--is he trembling?]

Mithos...

[He had been working on turning around and just going back the way he came from when Kratos says his name. He slowly turns to face him, with all the amusement of a tomb.]

Remove yourself from my sight immediately. [sharp words, but on the inside he's half-afraid of what Kratos could do to him if he wanted to. Wandering around lost the entire afternoon, wary of anyone and everyone passing by, has not been good for his nerves.]

[He continues to approach Mithos... and kneels before him. Not in the sense that he believes Mithos is still his leader, but--]

Mithos, I...

[.....That is not what he expected. He stares down, torn somewhere between incredulity and disgust.]

What are you doing? [demanded, not asked]

[shiningbinds]

[A small, rational voice in the back of his head berates him for this, but it's pushed back by overwhelming waves of sorrow and guilt.]

I... have hurt you so deeply. [His voice is cracking, tears running down his face. He keeps his head bowed, so the tears probably won't be able to be seen.]

[............What? Of all things... It...even sounds like Kratos is crying. In the gap left by complete and utter bewilderment, the past rushes in and he remembers how close he once was to this man, how much he'd relied on him, how unexpected it was the first time he turned his back--]

[The shock lasts only a fraction of a moment, before poisonous anger seeps back in.] You're too late. Do you really think you can repent for what you've done? That being sorry will undo anything?!

[His head remains bowed, but his voice is cracking more:] I know that it will not do or change anything. But Mithos, I... I am deeply sorry that everything ended up the way it did. I should have protected you.

[Protected Mithos from falling? Protected him from everything that happened prior to that? Kratos doesn't know... he doesn't know. He doesn't know why he's doing this. He just feels so filled with guilt, so much sorrow, and it's so much more than usual. More tears slip down his face.]

[Anger blazes through him, but at the same time... Kratos is kneeling at his feet, looking so pathetic - like a piece of trash that has been trampled by so many feet and kicked through the mud - and pouring his guilt out. Isn't this what he wants? One piece missing though.]

...Beg for my forgiveness, Kratos.

...forgive me, Mithos. Please forgive me... [The sobs are audible now, finding himself a slave to his emotions, to whatever mood he was in at the time. And at this time...]

this is awful. you're awful.

[A smirk begins to pull at the corners of his mouth. He hadn't expected the sobbing, but...how suitable this is for a pathetic traitorous dog. And he's been in a terrible mood lately (like that's new), so he could use some amusement.]

I'm not entirely convinced... [almost nonchalant, with the usual chill creeping out from underneath.]

Please, Mithos! Please forgive me! I never meant for things to end up the way they did! [Definitely a slave to this mood right now--it controls him to the point that he doesn't realize he shouldn't be doing this, or that it's the fault of an experiment.]

I don't deserve to set my eyes upon your face after what I've done to hurt you, Mithos. I was supposed to be your teacher and I hurt you in terrible, irreparable ways. [Those sobs are getting louder. Enjoying yourself, Mithos?] Forgive me, please forgive me. Forgive me, Mithos.

but it's just so.....awful

[You know, he'll just stand here and listen to his sobs for a little while. The only thing that could make this better would be if Yuan was prostrate right beside Kratos...]
