All right you guys, a few notices for the games:
Firstly, the snow is pretty much melted or melting, and it's getting warmer outside. There might be the occasional dust of snow, but for the most part consider it done.
Secondly, go and join
lucetilocked ASAP. :|
Thirdly, the friend add/remove is now f-locked. I'm sorry if this is an irritation, but this is to prevent premature/accidental add/removes. Yes, that does mean new people will need to be accepted to the comms before they can add anyone, but considering Akai and myself are on like...all the time and that the first thing we do when we get on is check the mod inbox, I don't think it'll take too long.
Lastly,
ALBERT'S CREW had snatched the laptops when they first visited the ruins, so they've got 'em.
Also, the room Jacob mentions is outside the barrier in the tunnels, which YES is still up. No warehouse access yet, John's working down there.
The laptops are now useful! With power to the tunnels restored, light switches work and you can see that there are floodlights along the roofing of the tunnels, so no more traveling in the dark. Power cap is still on though. The laptops should be kept down there at all times, but if your characters want to remove them, MAKE SURE YOU POST A NOTICE ABOUT IT IN
lucetilocked. Your characters can use those laptops down there to communicate with the village without the Malnosso knowing what they're saying, so use that comm to plan things out like big excursions, a census, etc.
Things to know about
lucetilocked -Everything should be posted ICly. If your character takes the laptops, make an OOC or Action post -just put OOC/Action in the subject line- stating that he or she is taking them.
-HOWEVER. Know that if you remove those laptops from those rooms, your character is probably getting kidnapped and those laptops are getting confiscated. IF THE LAPTOPS ARE OUT OF THE ROOM FOR LONGER THAN TWO DAYS, THEY WILL BECOME UNAVAILABLE FOR SEVERAL WEEKS. That's if they come back at all. If you want your character to steal the laptops YOU MUST HAVE MOD PERMISSION. Since that would affect everyone it's on the scale of a very large personal plot, so don't go lifting things from down there without asking first.
-The laptops come equipped with webcams and microphones! So your picture can be seen, and you can make a voice post if you'd like. The picture can be obscured if you like, of course, just put your hand or tape a piece of paper over the lens on the upper edge of the laptop.
-Your character, obviously, will need to physically remain in the tunnels to respond to any posts they make using the laptops. Since it's right near the entrance, it won't take them two days to get back to the village, only like five minutes; just keep that in mind if you switch to action during a thread.
-DO NOT TAG YOUR POSTS. The mods will handle that, just to keep things uniform and easily catagorized.
-If your character is not tech-savvy? He or she will need someone to show them how to work said laptop. Thankfully all the laptops do -for now- is make posts, so it's not hard to learn.
-FOR YOU ROBOTS/AIs/ETC: If you try to interface with the laptops in any way, YOU DIE. Technically. There is a firewall that, despite any uber powers you may have, will lash you damn good if you go poking around in cyberland. This death will not require a Death Penalty, but your character will be out of commission for at least a week. So be sure you wanna do that before you go poking around.
-If you use the laptop to make a personal post for your character, it will be deleted. What counts as a personal post? Basically, something that DOES NOT involve like half the village. If you aren't sure if the post is considered personal or not, ask either myself or Akai and we'll tell you.
-Your players CAN lock a post to certain citizens of Luceti; however, know that it'll take some time and smarts to get used to encrypting and hacking on the laptops, as they're kind of a different medium than the journals. Naturally, just being a genius won't get you hacking abilities, unlike the journals; tech-savvy characters have the upper hand here, but don't be shy to ask for lessons or help if your character needs a post locked down GOOD.
As per usual, questions go here~ And yes, this info will be added to the FAQ.
