Hidey ho, my fellow Lucetians! Before I get onto the main event of this post, I have a few reminders for you all.

First of all, the ACTIVITY CHECK is still running! Please comment there if you haven't yet, or speak to a mod if necessary!

Secondly, as a reminder, reserves open on the 15th! So please keep an eye out for that!

And now... the moment you've all been waiting for! You know it by the flood of curious posts... you know it by that sudden sense of cynicism and a desperate desire to hide out in your house for a week! But no matter how far you run or how well you hide, you can't escape everyone's favorite experiment.... the love event!

So what we're having this year is... a Choose Your Own (Love)venture!

That's right, this year's love event is basically a grab bag of different effects. The only thing that remains the same is the trigger -- that is, responding over the journals. I'm sure all you oldbies from last year are familiar with how that works, but for the newbies, allow me to explain in brief. Say Character A puts up a post anytime during the duration of the experiment. Character B is the first to reply to the post. A and B immediately fall in heads-over-heels love and proceed to go make out somewhere. Everyone is happy, there is sunshine and rainbows and puppies forever, hooray!

Now, before I go into the specific aspects of our grab bag, I want to introduce one very important concept: Though all your characters may remember as of now that there was a love experiment last year, once the experiment begins, all characters will forget there was a prior love experiment! That's right; all you clever folks out there all "I'm going to avoid the journal!" and "I'm going to become a hermit in the mountains for a week!" are going to suddenly forget aaaaaaall about the nasty experiment, so no one can try to avoid it. |D You're welcome.

Note: this will affect even those characters who are opting out of the experiment! Just so they don't ruin the fun for everyone else. However, your characters are of course allowed to figure out, after a few days, that all these shenanigans are an experiment. They just can't know it from the very start!

Anyway, onto the details! There will be several different aspects of this experiment:

Love At First Sight: This is as straightforward as it sounds. A and B talk on the journals, fall in love, everything's coming up roses. Easy. (Note that, in this scenario, the trigger only works if neither A nor B has already fallen for someone else.)

Always In Love: Also fairly self-explanatory! Characters A and B, when they fall in love via the mechanism explained above, believe they have always been in love, and just not realized it until this very magical moment!

Soap Opera Love Triangles: This one is a little more complex, and comes courtesy of our wonderful Yosie! The basic idea will be this: the trigger for falling in love won't just work one way. So you can have two situations:

Unrequited love: Say Bowser makes a voice post, all innocent and not knowing anything. Aerith, finding somethingorother intriguing to respond to, answers the post. However, she is not the only one - Winry also replies to the post. However, Bowser is feeling pissy over Aerith's response, and so replies to Winry first, then Aerith. As Bowser and Winry spoke first, they fall in mad, passionate love. Aerith, as the first person to respond to Bowser's post, falls deeply in love with the koopa, but tragically, her feelings are not returned. So basically: Aerith -> Bowser/Winry.

Ménage-à-Trois: Resetting the above scenario, then, say Aerith responds to the post. Winry then responds to her for somethingorother reason, and Boswer then replies Winry telling them both to shut up. That is, you get an Aerith>winry>Bowser three-way comment chain, and all three fall in love with each other. Basically: Aerith/Winry/Bowser. For +1 hideousness!

If you have any questions about how this may work out, please do feel free to ask. Now, moving on:

Lost The Spark: So, once upon a time, your characters were oh so totally in love... but somewhere along the way, the spark was lost. Nowadays they just bicker like an old married couple and can barely stand to be around each other. They will spend the whole week grousing and whining and possibly discussing marriage counselors. Characters do NOT need to have ever interacted before to use this option!

(Note that you can mix and match; this is kind of a gag option, so if you want to engage in one of the other options too, go for it. It could even add an extra layer of ~drama.)

Existing Love Amped to Eleven: Want to keep your already paired-up characters together, but still get in on the delicious experimenty love times? Well sure, my friend, you can do that too. Characters who already had feelings for each other will find those feelings have been jacked through the roof. Were you just holding hands? Well now you're making out. In Public. Were you already ~in love~? Well now you're probably doing things not safe for the eyes or ears of small children. Be creative with this one! However "amped up" feelings might play out, go wild.

Now, to set the stage for the final grab bag effect, I need to give you... your setting. This will only be in place for one day! That day being Saturday the 19th. (A mass event log will probably be put up to accommodate this!)

Imagine that the plaza has been transformed, much like last year, only this time, it seems the Malnosso have outdone themselves. In place of the ordinary cobbled plaza you are used to, there is instead a massive, looming weeping willow with pink leaves. There is plenty of space beneath these drooping boughs to sit and get quite comfy. In fact, the stones of the plaza have been overtaken by fluffy grass just ideal for curling up on! And strangely, beneath the canopy of this willow, the air is warmer... even invitingly spring-like. The fountain is still there -- only now it is half consumed by the massive roots of this great tree. The whole scene is incredibly beautiful -- a perfect lover's paradise. (In fact, it's almost sickening how perfect it is.)

Now, onto the last effect: Dangling from the branches of this tree is a strange fruit. If eaten when not fully ripe, it will amplify your feelings, be they good or bad. However, eat the fruit when it's riper, and you'll become outright flirtatious. (However, it'll just make all the kids very affectionate instead.) There's something very tempting about this fruit... making it oh so difficult to resist.

Finally, this experiment will run from 12:00 AM of the 14th through 11:59 PM of the 20th -- a full seven days. Oh, and of course, standard disclaimer: this event is optional, and your character is not mandatorily effected by it. Instead, they may simply sit on the sidelines of the shenanigans and do this. (However, if you do post during the event, you may want to note in the subject line or an OOC notice that your character is unaffected!)

Questions? Comments? You know the drill!

Also, please use this as a planning post for tossing out your partnerless pups to get some match ups going!
