Hello, Luceti!
New Feathers and old, of course. Some of you may remember me - some of you may not. That's cool. It's been a few months. A long few months for me. But after successfully getting my act together with regards to school (bribery and blatant stubborn pride helped), I've decided to give the game another shot.
So here's me, bringing Rupert Giles back to the village.
He has been canon updated...kind of as far as he can be canon updated, actually. He will, however, retain all his previous memories of Luceti. If he doesn't recognize anyone right off the bat, or seems a bit uncertain, it's more a case of "wow, it's been a long time" than "who are you and why are you talking to me?" It's been a long four years.
Details under the cut, for those of you who don't wish to be spoiled for Buffy Season 8.
1. He's dead. Angel snapped his neck. While Giles may not be aware of this at first...he'll put two and two together soon enough.
2. Sunnydale has been destroyed. Giles doesn't miss it.
3. He spent several months out of touch with the Scoobies in general, apart from Faith, and so he's gotten used to doing his own thing and operating independently. Even after he rejoined them, he quickly adjusted to the idea of Buffy being the leader of their group. So his role with regards to the other Scoobies has shifted.
4. However, one point the war drove home well enough even for him to grasp was that the Scoobies really are at their best when they're together. He gets this. He's seen this fact taken to its extreme. So he's actually in a pretty good place with most of his cast mates right now, even if he doesn't approach big problems the same way anymore.
5. Time operating on his own means that Giles is now less socially awkward than he used to be. Like, his stutter? Pretty much gone, unless he's hurting or exhausted.
6. However, months without the Scoobies to act as a moral point for him means that Giles is a lot more willing to do bad things when necessary, and he doesn't quite regret them as much as he used to. Even the fact of his friends finding out what he's done isn't necessarily a deterrant like it used to be.
7. Do not talk to him about Watchers. Just...don't. Barring Andrew and Dawn, the Watcher's Council deserved to be wiped out and its members deserved to be scattered and, in some cases, messily devoured. After what he saw in Hanselstadt, that's his story and he's sticking to it.
8. Castmates - he will be pretty sparing with details, at first. Eventually, he might share.
Of course, I heard that one of you outed the fact that I was applying over general chat, so...this post is really kind of a formality, isn't it?
Look for the intro post later this evening, once classes are out and I can get properly accepted back into all the communities and puzzle out the mass "friend add/remove" thing.
But just because I'm technically inept doesn't mean you have to be. So go ahead and do that nifty
consultmybooks, or be difficult about it and:
