General info

Classes are generally in session from Monday - Thursday, roughly 9 AM-2:30 pm.

Of course, some times might run over depending on what's going on. The building is open for use for tutoring sessions and after school related things that characters might have an interest in building/attending.

This hopefully leaves enough hours left in the day for people to do other things, in case anyone was worried about it being an "all day" time consuming thing. It's more of an assumption to help fill characters morning's than anything else (and to give them something to do like "homework" if they wanted something to complain about.)

- Certain classes are organized by ability. Since the ages of the characters are varied, and there honestly aren't that many youngsters, the placement into the main classes will depend on how the test results have gone, and the character's progress since then. The signups for the school can be found here.

- School supplies can be found in the item shop, like notebooks, papers, pencils, instruments, etc, so don't go crazy wondering about things like that.

- Note that after school study groups are encouraged to help people keep up, considering how short the schedule is and all the rotating that Raine and Gelda have to do. So students are encouraged to organize that amongst themselves.

- For the more open and "group" separated classes, the lessons between the two 'groups' would be very similar, and just vary due to the personalities of the teachers and the students involved. Both teachers are very encouraging to the students and try to get as much participation as possible. Gelda is probably considered more laid-back and mellow whereas Raine is more intense. Calm as usual, but expects an answer if she calls on you. She usually will have the students read aloud or present things. And no sleeping in her class. Ever.

Testing

Anyone who is interested in attending is given a test (The scores on each section are marked out of 400.) The test basically is in different areas of finding out where students are mental-grade level wise. So there would be three scores for the different parts and then the results would be averaged for an overall score.

- The test itself is on gauging skill levels in Math, Science, Reading and Writing comprehension. Student players are asked to give an idea of how their character would do in each area to determine which level of class they will be placed in for those specific courses.

- Anything between 120-250 is roughly average and where most people would fall, 250-320 is likely those who applied themselves more/are older/more general knowledge, 320+ would be for genius level basically. Whatever applies! It's no big deal, this is just to help me organize the classrooms.

- I've noticed that there is an *incredible* imbalance in the way the classes are currently organized, so I'm hoping to have them evened out in a sense that they're closer to the same page and the really advanced ones probably are given different projects to keep them occupied while the lower ones are given a little more focus/tutoring.

(Normal exams in classes would be given standard grades, the general "out of 100" or A-F grading system to avoid confusion! The above is just to see where the character's abilities are.)

Offered Courses

  • Math: Pretty self explanatory; there are quite a few levels to math, starting from the most simple to extremely complicated depending on where a person's ability rests. Math ability is determined by the test given to new students and is one of those higher level/lower level classes.

  • Science: Every semester up until a break (like summer and winter) will be focused on a different science subject. More of a study of natural things, and perhaps even delving into theory. Geology, physical, biology, chemistry among other practical sciences can likely be explored here, as time goes on.

  • Writing/Reading comprehension: Pretty self explanatory, includes discussion of books and literacy and sentence/grammar structures, and composition writing. Lots of composition writing.

  • Art: Usually just for Mondays and Wednesdays, and also will be opened to non-enrolled students for the heck of it. More of a recreational class, though everyone's expected to work on something, so it's not just a free period. Gelda's classes might lean toward more craft-type projects while Raine just encourages creativity and thinking outside the lines and other things and of course some emphasis on history from other worlds.

  • PE: On Thursdays, theoretically more of a 'recess' class; students are expected to play fairly with each other and get involved, and occasionally have sessions of explaining their world's sports to one another, or just hang out and do whatever. Either can be outside on the playground or inside the gym room.

  • World Sharing: To be elaborated on a little further elsewhere (as the class will be opened up to those who don't officially attend), given the broad span of worlds that students hail from, this course is intended to be one that allows students to learn more about one another and the worlds they come from. Presentations and groups working together are often encouraged, as obviously this is a course that would rely mostly on what students are willing to tell about their histories. And hopefully there would be books available in the library to support this as well, but that isn't always the case.

  • Music: Mondays and Wednesdays, taught by refinedmaestro. Alternated with the art classes groups. Will be opened up to non-students as well, and more will be elaborated elsewhere. Students have a chance to learn about playing instruments and their history and probably sharing some of their world's examples of music as well. He also will have private students, so please let his mun know!

  • Magic: Explanations on the spirits, and exploring the meaning of the term "Magic" and how it differs over various worlds. Please see the writeup for all pertaining information!

Further information on some of the above classes can be read here, please take a look!

The Schoolhouse:

First floor: Raine's office, Classroom "A", Classroom "D" (Music classroom, with instruments), girl's bathroom, "gym" (an extra large room that was once used in a town meeting), supply closet. Near the gym at the back of the building is the door that leads to the playground.

Second floor: Gelda's office, Classroom "B", Classroom "C", boy's bathroom, empty office, supply closet, cafeteria. And by cafeteria it's just another large room like the gym, only students can bring their own lunches to eat there if they want. If for some reason the classes are combined, they probably would be held up there.

Outside: In the back of the school is a playground that has a barrier to keep out the known villains. The general area includes something like this, though probably with a larger area for organized sports like soccer.

Other: Outside the building are a few various plants and flowerbeds, which Raine usually tends to. There's also a school bell that can be heard in the morning.
