My biggest reaction to the end of this episode was very seriously, guys? so...keep that in mind.
It's always a bad idea to say that something is SO UNBELIEVABLE in a show about two brothers who kill monsters, but my biggest problem in the whoooole thing is actually that they give the impression that Dean is going to immediately move in with Lisa and Ben and they will be a happy family! Who cares if Show has said that Dean isn't the father and Lisa's known him for something around eleven days and last saw him two years ago and still has a son to raise and provide for? HAPPIEST ENDING EVER.
As I do not think Lisa is an idiot, I have a lurking suspicion that after dinner, Lisa will be happily opening the front door for him and saying he's welcome to stop by tomorrow. And maybe if Show gave them time they could have Happy Ever After, but it's gonna take time Dean doesn't have, what with being SUCIDAL and being too good at hiding it for Lisa to know she needs to watch out for him.
Sooooo, I think Sam is standing there under the light frowning because he knows his brother's gonna be stupid and shoot himself in the head in a few hours. And speaking of Frowny Light-Popping Sammy, I am going to use loopholes. Lucifer's Prison was made to hold archangels. Is Sam Winchester an archangel? Nnnnope. So I say he fought his way out of hell with his dead half-brother and now has control over his psychic powers and himself, is more mature, and is a Good Man, and did all that in the time it took Dean to drive to Lisa and the sun to set since Hell-Time is lots faster. And he also has sunshine and rainbows in his back pocket.
Also, Castiel is a soldier, not a general or a CEO or anything made for managerial work. There's a theory that says when someone is truly outstanding at their job, they get promoted until they reach a point where they're absolute shit. As much as I love Cas, I do believe this is what will happen to him. I've always felt like it was more of a caste system with Angels And Archangels, but if Zachariah's dead and so is every archangel other than Raphael (who might still be sitting around in a ring o' fire), it'd fall to poor rookie Castiel to take over.
Without Lucifer, Hell will collapse. With just Castiel, Heaven will collapse.
This is not a happy ending.
I do think Bobby has a happy ending though, since I am an OPTIMIST! and think Crowley'll show up and give him his soul back, and then Bobby and Crowley will become bffs and use each other's talents in a friendly and vicious way. And Crowley will find a new tailor and force Bobby into a better-looking outfit. And Castiel still comes and visits sometimes, since he and Crowley never got a real scene together. They'll have a sitcom where Dean occasionally shows up and the audience SCREEEEEAMS before Crowley cuts him down with an amusing insult and the audience laughs and things are happy. And I need a .gif of Sam's Changing Channels "Deeeeean :/" now, since that's what comes next.
.....this isn't really an episode reaction is it. WHOOPS. At least it's more sensical than
last year's?
