FIRST BIRTHDAY FIC. Yes, I am writing so many that I have to start posting them six days before my birthday. Sorry it's so depressing, Sherlock-types; my brain decided Lestrade and Sherlock need ridiculously emo backstory
( Read more... )
"his parents had been wrapping presents for him when Lestrade delivered the news and his mother had tape all over her fingers" OMG you are a genius. We don't deserve this for YOUR birthday. ♥
When I read that you had written Sherlock I jumped in my seat like an idiot. Then I read that it's a Sherlock/Lestrade pre-series, with Sherlock as the junkie, and I made an undignified noise (or two.) I've been begging for a story EXACTLY like this for weeks, I'm serious.
And well, of course you made it ten times more beautiful and haunting tha what I had in mind. Lestrade is absolutely heartbreaking here, with his tragic story, and Sherlock is exactly the addicted bastard that I was expecting him to be.
Really beautiful, I think it's one of the best things you have written. ♥
Awwww, you are way (way way way) too kind. I am so very glad you like it, though. I was writing this and kind of thinking "GEE, MAYBE DEAD BABIES AREN'T A GOOD TOPIC FOR SOME BIRTHDAY FIC?" so I am very glad you like it.
As for you asking for this, clearly I am shocked. All kinds of shocked at this fortuitous and random happenstance! It's not like I've been reading every bit of your fangirling, at all. Nope. Not one bit. ♥ ♥ ♥
GEE, MAYBE DEAD BABIES AREN'T A GOOD TOPIC FOR SOME BIRTHDAY FIC? I think both our brains work in mysterious ways, so I guess that's...ok? LOL. Now I feel guilty for being all impulsive and saying that this is your best work though, because you have written lots of amazing stuff...let's say that this just hit all my buttons (and not for the dead babies.)
I have a soft spot for young junkie Sherlock, because on this adaptation it's the only incarnation of him that might show some vulnerability to explore, you know? So I'm all for it! And well, Lestrade clearly had something to do with it, as it's not so subtly implied in the 1th ep, so...my mind run with it. :)
"It's not like I've been reading every bit of your fangirling, at all. Nope. Not one bit." OMG, I LOVE YOU. You are my favorite, ever. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ I don't even know what to say, apart from stressing the fact that you are wonderful (but we know already!)
PS: and you totally need to post this on the Sherlock comm, btw.
And why do you feel this guilt? I just meant that it needs another couple weeks of editing to be good is all. It was written for your enjoyment, and you enjoyed! Where is there guilt in this? I adore you! You're too good to me! Be happy! ♥
I LIKE ALL OF THOSE THINGS ABOUT PRE-SERIES AS WELL. Maybe even the dead babies, so long as they are fictional. And I thoroughly enjoyed playing the What's Lestrade's Trauma? game. I knew it was smoking (patches!) + kid (he is way more upset that I'd expect when Dear Jim uses the kid's voice) + junkie!Sherlock (again, patches scene, with his semi-apologetic but blunt "it's a drugs bust") + his job (...because it's Lestrade). EDITED TO ADD HIS RING, aka the wedding ring on the right hand, which is what I've heard some widowers do. And then I got to toy with it! YAY! And this got really wordy!
And I might post it, after editing some more. Where does one post these things? All I really know is sherlockbbc_fic and that's not for postings of this kind.
This is deeply moving and every so good. I love Sherlock's line - You’re a disgrace to suicidal morons everywhere, with your passive attempt at killing yourself through smoking,” sounds like something he'd say. I love your attention to detail.
The story is sorta haunting as it should be about it's subject matter. I love the way your wrote Lestrade. It makes Lestrade's scenes with Sherlock in SiP have much more meaning - a much better meaning.
Oh this is so lovely. You know, in a severely depressing way. I was kind of disappointed on the show that all Sherlock used was nicotine patches but the insinuation of more keeps me oddly happy so to have it explored like this is excellent! You write a brilliant Lestrade.
