Rock The Vote

Apr 20, 2010 07:38

Today's the last day to register to vote in the most interesting election since at least 1997.

If you aren't registered go to About My Vote right now!

In other news, we have now had election leaflets from Labour, the Greens and UKIP. Get your finger out, the rest of you. Although I'd be just as happy not seeing one from the BNP, obviously.

Thrilling update: today we got (all in the same mail drop) leaflets from: the Greens (their candidate looks about twelve, I swear) (theme: More money for people with low pay! We will create a million new jobs! We will protect the NHS!), Labour (theme: Tories are shit and will RUIN EVERYTHING, we won't, honest) and Conservatives (theme: I can write my name REALLY BIG, I agree with you about everything (but I'm not saying I'll do anything about it), oh please elect me again, I've been doing this for ages, I don't want to have to get a job where I might have to work, oh pleeeeease...)

No LibDem Bar Chart Of Why You Should Vote For Us? They're really getting slack.

aparently the conservative bloke is going to leave it to central office if they want to do a mailing in Leeds West - he reckons he'd be better off campaigning to get his colleague in in Pudsey than wasting effort in our constituency... given that dismissive attitude I can see why they are are so opposed to electoral reform.

Can't fault his logic, TBH, the Tories have no chance whatsoever in Leeds West. Why the Tories oppose electoral reform when they are the biggest losers from FPTP is an eternal mystery.

But yes, you're right, very dismissive! I shan't vote for him then ;)

I agree, although letting the message get back to the labour councillor who's standing for re-election in part of the constituency is a tad careless.

We're really hoping that our postal votes will arrive at my parents' house just in time for us to cast them before leaving the country to fly to the US...

...it will be straight down the wire, though! I estimate it's about 50:50. Still, it's the best we can do & at least we're having a shot at it.
