A girl can never have too many flowers.

Or how my weekend was spent gardening. My friend and neighbour is having her garden landscaped and patio’ed so she asked us if we wanted some of her plants out of her garden. So at least five hours was spent removing shrubs and border plants to transplant into our  front garden. B was supervising the planting out when I did it “That will be too ( Read more... )

I don't blame you for wanting to take advantage of the weather. We do the same thing this time of year, only in our case it's before the 10 months of hell-heat sets in.

What kind of flowers did you get? I've got my flower bed ready for the annual Mother's Day planting (Andy always fills my flower bed as my gift -- I love it!) but I don't know what we're getting this year. It has to be something hearty and sun-loving to survive here.

I hope B feels better. It's good to see you. *hugs*

Glomps you and clings to your leg <3

Bill must be feeling better today he has already been out to the shop.

We planted loads of different colours of Geraniums, some London Pride cos it spreads and covers the weeds.A beautiful Californian lilac that I hope will survive the move.Dahlias, Dutch Irises lilies a lavender bush and a couple of hostas.

I would love to see your flower bed once Andy has planted it for you. It's a really thoughtful thing for him to do.

Oh have you read much of Philip Roth and what do you think of him? I caught a film on TV this week based on his The Human Stain.

I loved Endless Love and Atonement.Amsterdam was lazy and self indulgant.

I haven't read any Philip Roth but I understand the novel of "The Human Stain" is much better than the movie, which was a dud no matter how lovely Gary looked in his uni sweats. ;-)

Roth also wrote "Good-bye Columbus" which was turned into a pretty entertaining movie with Ali McGraw and Richard Benjamin.

You must take pictures of the garden so we can ooh and ahh. I think we need some of that London Pride here. I am forever weeding that damn flower bed!

I haven't gotten back to McEwan yet as there are so many other books stacked up on my nightstand but "Enduring Love" is one of my favorite novels ever, which is saying a lot considering I'm more of a non-fiction than fiction reader.

I agree with you about the film. There was an awful lot of miscasting going on.I have never taken to Nicole Kidman as she couldn't normally act her way out of a paper bag.

I adored Enduring Love.Mc Ewens prose is so wonderfully spare and for once I read a book properly rather than speed read.

Oh God yeah, you have to enjoy the sun when you can. This could be the summer! The weathermen are saying that the UK is going to have a heatwave this summer, which is usually a sign that it will piss down from June to October....
