It's strange living here. There was no noise when the news was announced, just some small banter back and fourth. There was no rejoicing, no low hum of disappointment....just a quick acknowledgment of the fact that our country just made history and then back to drinking and normal life. Well said!! I'm fortunate enough to be in Seattle with a lot of like-minded individuals. It was awesome to hear that crowds were massing in such numbers downtown to celebrate that traffic had to be stopped. It was also nice, for a change, to hear the horns honking and the people cheering at all hours of the night. Usually this would prompt me to get the airsoft rifle out, but not this time.

I'm in Seattle and work on the east side. I moved up a few months ago from Portland.

I am shocked and saddened by how regressive, fearful and socially conservative this area has been.

Am I missing something?

Yes. Although most of the money is on the east side (with exceptions of course), and y'all know how those with money love the GOP. Honestly, I think it is more of a generational thing. The county voted 72% to 27% in favor of Obama, so I would certainly say that you're missing something.

Perhaps it's time to re-evaluate those you keep company with :)
