the Path

.....it blinks in and out
waves a bit
falls back to sleep and stays put
years could go by
and I wouldn't realize it there
until it wakes to bite my feet......

I like this, it is true also, the path or whatever you wish to call it is always there but we forget about it till like you said it bites at your feet.
