Oh yes, with a title like that, you know this day was interesting...
During Philosophy we examined more of Nietzsche... A German from the great country that brought you Hitler and the Nazis. Has about as much kindness, too.
After Philosophy was some great conversation in Susquehannah... I only wish I had a timeturner like Hermione had to use to make that hour or so last much longer. Before I knew it, it was dark outside and my meditation class beckoned me after a brief stop at my dorm. One great image I got from then was of a team of supporting nurses standing around a surgery table with their hands clasped, to prevent contamination, as if in prayer. Sanitation or sanctification? Perhaps both... One for the body, the other the spirit. Idle hands, anyone? If thats not a paradox, I don't know what is.
Curious yet about that strange title? Well, be patient... try meditating a little... or just read on.
Meditation class focused on acceptance of whatever it is that is facing you, looking at something full on and not trying to struggle or suffer over it. I will be honest that I could not keep my thoughts focused, which was far different than my meditations in the past... They kept straying, and eventually I just gave up and observed it as a meteorologist watches the radar. If my mind were Florida, and my observer Tom... hm....
(~Swirly mists envelop the scene, showing a scene from The Weather Channel...~)
Anchorman: "That's right, there's a category 4 hurricane in Florida... best prepare the evacuation plans... lets go to our correspondent who is reporting 100+mph winds..."
(~scene switches to a man with palm trees practically tearing out of the ground in the background~)
Correspondent: "The winds really blowing down here, Tom!"
Anchorman: "Can you tell us what its like?"
Correspondent: "It's like a hurricane!"
(~fades back to the studio after the man tries to put more words to describe whats happening, but fails~)
Anchorman thinks -=How much do we pay this guy to tell us the obvious?=- and says "Thank you for your bravery. Calm weather dominates the mid west..."
*I am just dying to put it in a comic strip, but right now I've not the ability to scan or the time to do it...*
All right... back to meditation. After doing some spinal stacks, a stretching exercise of sorts, we decided to try walking meditation. We proceeded outside in a straight line and started walking back and forth around the porch. About the second turn it occurred to me just how ridiculous we would've looked to anyone passing by... and just as that thought occurred, such a group did pass by, a girl in it saying "Shh!" loudly to another person. We would've fit right in if we had candles and vestments on, as some strange cult of undead acolytes. Inebriated acolytes, perhaps, focusing on walking promotes stumbling, especially if your trying to meditate at the same time.
Grabbed some delicious pasta and then shot some pool with a friend of mine. This entry has taken longer than I had figured... but I've got the weekend. Just need to disconnect the computer and get working. Tomorrow I discuss schedules with my FYE and get my account unlocked. Then its work, work work...
Will the world be safe from zombies? Will separation of hands and germs ever be possible? Find out next time on... As the Campus Turns...
