Jin looks so tired. But wow, he should always wear suits. *__*
I was in HP as well and feel more or less the same way you do. I did try writing a few things, but never really cared much. And the same thing happened in the Supernatural fandom. What I think is that, while that kind of fandom gives you a canon that allows you to write a lot of different things (I mean, a world with magic! So many things to do!), RPS is more relaxed - I feel that, while we get mostly defined personalities, it's also easier to explore them a bit more, it's like the limits are actually more flexible. With books you have the outlined characterisations and you have to work with that, but RPS lets you add a bit more of your point of view. And like you said, theories *__* it definitely feels like there's a lot more room to make those.
...I. Ramble a lot. DD:
I hope that you have fun at the party. :) Feel better soon!
Aha but rambling is good. Especially when it makes lots of sense. Maybe it's also because they're real people that their personalities can (and will) change, and they give us something new everytime. In a "woah he did that, and I didn't expect him to do it, but now that I think about it... it's totally what he would do" sort of way.
I mean, canon... it just stops after the book, right? I'm still trying to pretend the epilogue in Book 7 doesn't exist; I hate it so much.
You know, I'm totally the same about HP. I wrote like, three little things that were kinda not great. And a couple things plus an RPG with lots of random un-posted ficcish things for Prince of Tennis but OMG What is it about JE that just. lkdsfjlskdjflksdfjlsdkjf
I think it DOES have to do with all the shows and footage and EVERYTIHNG. Its like you feel you have a better grasp on what to do with them even if we ARE totally off XDDDDD
YES. Not to mention they just keep giving us new stuff all the time and we can just keep flailing all over them pretending we're not obsessed. Not at all. *_*
Well there is that and the fact that the HP fandom has been around for so long the writing keeps evolving. I daresay it's really kind of hard to find truly bad fic in the HP fandom right now (hd_worldcup!) in the way they still exist in JE (ahem.). It makes it so much more daunting to write anything when people are turning out these 20,000-word pieces of art.
I KNOW what it is about JE. It's the sparkles! THE GLITTER! THE HOT BOYS that you can actually see
