The Chinese floor exercise. So fantastic. I love Deng Linlin, because she works so hard and her floor exercise ajdfjdgjkdg the butt wriggle, oh god so cute. Cheng Fei is reliable as always... but the last floor, so much pressure, especially after the beam fall and oh my god it could have been an wushu routine and I loved it. Yes, I am pretty stoked ( Read more... )

So happy China won ♥♥ and the underage thing always makes me go :| while also XD because my sister who's almost 30 still gets asked what high school she goes to.

:( media seems to be getting priorities screwed up. And even if the army wasn't prepared, I think they made up for it with determination. The things that the soldiers did to save people...honestly, I don't think anyone can criticize their conduct in that respect.

ME TOO! Yes I know about the age thing, it makes me vaguely happy and :/ about it at the same time because there are still times when even the police don't believe you're old enough to drive till you stop over and show them your licence.

Agree about the army thing. They were just doing the best they could. As it is always, it's always the higher-ups that are fucked up, the people on the ground are just following orders.

Also, who is the random Chinese dude with the Americans? He's their coach--he's really Shawn Johnson's coach, but I think he somehow became the US womens' gymnastics coach too along the way.

I LOVE THE CHINESE TEAM. The girls are so cute and so fantastic it's kind of scary. Deng Linlin was the cutest, I am totally her fan. :3 Ah, and that age thing pisses me off too. I'm 17 and 4'11" and I know a lot of Asian girls older than me who are also shorter than me. Totally possible--we're not just faking it to be cute, yo ( ... )

That is interesting, because I was totally reading all this America-yay and China-bashing nonsense on the American newspapers and then suddenly-- one of your main coaches is Chinese? Your head coach originally championed no age limits? The girls themselves are not at fault at all, but seriously the rest of them. So hypocritical ( ... )

It's all over the place, really. NBC was also saying how it's 'interesting' that their coach is now back in his hometown of Beijing, and they don't mean interesting like 'oh wow, ironic' but more like 'hmmm, suspicious.' Uhh, how is that so? Do they think he might secretly be rooting for the Chinese? I don't understand it, but I just might be missing their point ( ... )

Ahhh, I remember that! And they keep remarking about how the Chinese fans don't stand up and cheer with banners and stuff. But that's so retarded. The audience is being polite because they know the athletes are already under a lot of pressure. I'm sorry that we don't act like Americans at the Super Bowl.

Also, we cheer for everyone because we're nice people; surely this can't be too hard of a concept to grasp, even for paranoid anti-commies.

Yeahh the Chinese guy is the US team's coach. There are lots of past Chinese Olympians who are now coaching for the US. Nothing's wrong with that it's just I don't like how little credit/recognition they get over here.

But I thought the Chinese team was fantastic. Very cute especially Deng and Cheng Fei's floor routine was awesome! (:

He's their coach because the Chinese know how to do it right. XD It's like how the U. S. synchronized diving teams have a Chinese coach, too.

I find it sad that American media criticizes China so much for things that really are just cultural differences. But no one ever says, "Hey, the Chinese aren't like Americans!" Someone always has to be wrong, and of course, America is always right. -_-;;;;

I feel so bad for not watching the Olympics properly :/
Lots of people I know are terribly excited about it and me, well, I'm usually working or at the gym when the games and presentations are on so I always miss stuff :///
not to mention that I don't exactly cheer for my country or anything...my lack of patriotism :|
(I did manage to catch the swimming yesterday though, while I was running at the gym, and it was quite fabulous :O)

And ohhh, very surprised at your mention of Daiane :O
Of course she is mentioned all the time on the media here but it's unusual for me to hear people from other countries do so :D

ps: I'm working on that 'Best of L'arc after Smile' folder you asked me. It will be uploaded soon ;D

Ah yes, I didn't know who Daiane was till yesterday, but I watched the floor exercise she did and she was pretty amazing. The commentator loves her as well, since she was commenting on the crazy amount of energy that Daiane seems to have every time she performs. XD

I only ever watch diving, gym and swimming, so I don't really blame you for not watching. And this year I'm taking special interest only because it's in Beijing.
